My Margarito Thoughts!!!!

This is a 2pt story.

The fight went just as I thought it would. I like Clottey and I think he's capable of beating anyone in 5 rounds but after that he always seems to start to fade. Thats not taking anything away from him because he clearly hurt his hand and couldve easily won without that.

Margarito looked like Margarito always looks so I dont know why people are so unimpressed. For all the guys who loved Margarito, if you were unimpressed with this fight then you overrated Margarito from the jump because he looks the exact same in every fight. He didnt have a off night, this is just him. He's slow, sloppy, and has no D but on Offense he throws all night and lands with power. Ive always said his chin was overrated because Ive seen him stunned more then a few times but he just hasnt been in with a great fighter. This is the same guy that just had a life & death struggle with Santos even if he was smaller. Any top fighter kills Santos and a average guy killed Santos right after that fight.

Now with all that being said, I do think people are dissing him a little too much. Against Floyd I could see him getting killed with speed, counter punching, and Floyd just simply beating him to the punch. Margarito also looked bad when Clottey hurt his hand and started to move. That may have made it look like Clottey lost that round because he was standing in fighting at 1st but if you really look at it then you could see that Margarito couldnt cut the ring off and Clottey landed all the shots. If he cant cut the ring off on Clottey then how could he do it on Floyd?

Again though, with all that being said he still could possibly give Floyd some problems because he wont stop. Floyd may dominate him early but he will come for 12 rounds and he doesnt get tired. He will throw non stop bombs. Floyd does like Ali alot and lets guys hit him on his arms until they punch themselves out and then he kills them. That wont work against Margarito because he never punches himself out. He wont get tired.

PART 2

The same goes for a Margarito-Cotto fight. I think many people are underestimating Margarito now and overrating Cotto. Quintana was just overrated as Julio has looked like crap since that fight and Quintana looked kind of clumbsy in the Cotto fight. Make no mistake about it, Clottey is a much more tougher fight then Quintana and Cotto wouldve had mad problems with Clottey while Margarito probally wouldve bombed Quintana. If Arum and fans are basing there decision off of last night then they could be in for a shock. To me its kind of 50/50 but I still favor Margarito. I could see Cotto landing vicious combos all night and that could eat Margarito up because he's too slow and has no D. On the other hand I could see Margarito taking punches to give them and he will hurt Cotto alot and wear him down as the fight goes on. I wouldnt jump to make this fight if Im Cotto, Arum, or the Cotto fans.

One thing for sure that was funny is that Dougie Fischer is the biggest Floyd hater & Margarito fan but last night he wrote: With Cotto’s awesome showing and Margarito’s unimpressive performance, the management of the budding Puerto Rican star might seriously consider taking on the avoided Mexican. However, to make a case that he deserves showdowns with any of the sport’s elite welterweights, Margarito will have to look better than he did against Clottey.

What was that? He has to make a case that he deserves a fight? I thought all the haters were saying that the WW division goes through him and your not really the Champ unless you beat him? Now he has to prove that he even deserves a shot? Isnt that what Floyd's been saying all along? He beats bums and people act like he's the G.O.A.T. He's by far the most hyped guy to come along in years and I still cant fully judge him but there's one thing for sure, he's not going to dominate any real elite fighter and he wont just chump Floyd like alot of people 1st thought

I think at the very least,Quintana was a decent fighter.Yeah his marquee win was julio,but he pitched a shutout.I remember when negotiations were going on and Quintana wouldnt step aside to let cotto fight Urkal when arum said hed give him a shot at cotto later,you said something like,Quintana's not ******,he knows Arum would never give him cotto.And now you give cotto no credit.

My Margarito thoughts are that he didnt look as good, but I think it had allot to do that clottey was a good rugged fighter with some speed and that Margarito FOR SURE hasnt been to active, he knocked out Gomez in the 1st round back in February and before that he knoced out cintron in 5 rounds back in april of 2005, a total of 6 rounds since april of 2005. For all the Margarito haters I want you to name 1 good fighter that hasnt had some troubles with a fighter.

That was before Julio looked like crap against Rivera which made everyone second guess just how good Julio was. Its like Margarito knocking out Cintron. Is Margarito that good or is Cintron that overrated? Atleast Cintron has some solid wins.

Im not taking anything from Cotto because it was a good win but he still lost some of those rounds and probally was trailing before the KO. The reason why I take some credit from him is because I didnt like the way Quintana looked. Maybe it was Cotto but for some reason he didnt even look like a good boxer. Atleast Malinaggi still looked like a good boxer. Quintana looked sloppy & uncoordinated alot in that fight. He squared up alot and didnt step around so well.

I promise you that I will give Cotto fair credit if he wins his next fight against just some really proven guy but he doesnt even have to be a Super Star. Like Baldy, Gatti, Margarito, Callazo, and I would actually give him good credit if he beat Williams. All his wins have been great but there just always feels like a "yeah but" in all of them
