Peter Manfredo Lacks the X-Factor

Manfredo is a nice guy and all, but he has done zero to get a titleshot and sorry.. but he has very close to zero chance. Joe is steadily regaining the image he has had for so many years before the Lacy fight - one of avoiding serious opposition and staying inside his comfort zone

In other words.. the money are saying that this is a totally ridiculous bastard of a fight that should never have been made and is a complete waste of everyone's time because there is no question who the winner will be..

you can't blame manfredo for taking the fight, they offered if to him, it's not like he's the number one contender in the WBO, he isnt even ranked in the wbo super middleweight top ten!

if you want to have a gripe about this fight all the blame is on Joe Calzaghe and Frank " the prank" Warren.

manfredo is being given a shot at a title because it's easy pickens for Joe, that and manfredo has a bit of a name to him.

i think it's a total joke and a huge discredit to Calzaghe for taking this fight. he should be fighting either the number one guy or fighting kessler to unify. that or make a fight with another big name in a near by division.

if this is a tune up fight then at least make it a fight with someone who is ranked in the top ten in the wbo or ibf.

manfredo is ranked 8th in the wbc which kessler holds that belt and 13th in the ibf which calzaghe holds that belt but i'm sure anymore because i've seen captions saying calzaghe got stripped by the ibf or some **** like that.

point i'm trying to make is there are guys that deserve a shot at the title, guys that have put themselves into position by fighting and they're not getting a shot.

i aint hating on manfredo, but c'mon, this fight shouldn't be happening, joe should be fighting someone who is either the other champ in the division and he should try and unify, or he should be fighting someone who is in the top ten of the organizantions in which he holds belts at.

this fight is too soon for manfredo, calzaghe and warren are exploiting a underexperienced fighter by making this fight. this has been the formula for joe and why he is still undefeated, that and figihting guys that are on their way out the game. not to say he doesn't train and fight well, but he has yet to take someone on in their prime where they're a real serious threat to joe. the guy has all the talent in the world and acts like he has all the confidence in the world in himself but the matches his promoter makes and the fights that calzaghe takes seems to say other wise.

like i said nothinig against manfredo but this fight is bull****, calzaghe should be fighting someone who is more credible at this point in his and their career. since the fight is a go, i hope manfredo makes it a hell of a fight, i'd love to see him win, calzaghe and warren think they got an easy fight and manfredro comes out and is murder for joe, i doubt it but it would be nice.

But I think Calzaghe is not going to take him lightly at all. Bernard has been talking about stopping Calzaghe from breaking his title defense record. You think Calzaghe would blow that? That's a mega fight on American soil, Calzaghe will probably destroy manfredo, which is a shame. I hope the kid doesn't give up, he's got talent, he just needs the experience.

After B-Hop's last performance, I'd love to see him put the smack down on Calzone.

The point is this, though, in my mind: There shouldn't even be a question as to who he's going to fight next. In my mind, Kessler is the ONLY option. He's got the other two belts. Make history by doing something that hasn't been done, and unify '68. THEN go for the big money showdown for a career finale.

I actully think Manfredo has the X factor, I just dont think he has the skills to back it up.
I hope im wrong.
I think this fight will go the distance and I wouldnt be suprised to see it be closer than alot of people expect.

Manfredo Jr. can't even trouble VANES now, much less the prime Joe Calzaghe.

i think its a total mismatch, and Manfredo will get schooled farrrr worse than Jeff Lacey did.

Bute would have a good chance. Mundine would have a fair chance. Andrade would have a chance. Inkin would have a chance. several other would have a little chance - even undefeated Stieglitz would have a little(!) chance.. Manfredo has zero.
