Mayweather De La Hoya is gonna sell big because of the golden boy... De La Hoya could be fighting a mostly unknown fighter to the casual fan....Like Mayorga and make waaaaaaayyyyy more PPV sells than Floyd. We're not talking about skill we are talking about popularity...And to be great you have to also put on a good show and be popular, because the fans make a fighter great. A fighter isn't great just because he says he is he has to prove it to the people.

maybe im in the minority who like to watch people punch and move, for me, its a perfect indicator of the sport.

Like I said, if popularity is what makes you great then the greatest fighters to ever lived were all heavyweights...

Being a superstar doesn't have to do anything with accepting 100K to get revenge on a fighter he thinks he can beat and get his belts. Anyway...that's your opinion...if you don't think Floyd-Judah is comparable with Pac-EM then so be it. I'm just saying that no featherweights has garnered this much attention and money...........welterweights and middleweights wether between mediocre fighters are always expected to do better. Peace.

Most people on the planet couldnt even tell you what a welterweight is, especially in this age of boxing. Boxing these days is less about weight and more about star power, it has been that way since the decline of heavyweights, and the emergance of "names".

Ummm...he was outlining the fact that lower weight fighters don't get the respect they deserve in USA...which is true. Name a big star of the last 20-30 years that was a featherweight.....

His name is prince naseem hamed...........had he continued to fight (and win of course) he would have probably be in par with delahoya. Probably.

and then think about the state of boxing 20 or 30 years ago. the promotional machine was different, everything about the fight game was different then in terms of networks, exposure and general audience.

Yeah, HAD he continued? He still wasn't a big star.

I was glad I didn't buy Pac/EM III. Besides the fact I'm a lover of the sweet science, I like to watch 2 fighters giving 100%, with a broken hand Mayweather still managed to win every round decisively, & Baldomir gave everything he had, he just wasn't able to stop the onslaught. On the other hand I could tell from the walk into the ring & the refs final instructions that Erik Morales just didn't have much left, he pushed his body to the limit & fought like a warrior but we all now he wasn't the same warrior he once was(I'm not taking away from Pacquiao's impressive performance, but I cal it like I see it). Personally I'd rather see a fight(no matter how one-sided it is) then a slaughter.
