Said Cole, “I screwed up. At first I wasn’t sure if I had said it, as someone told me right after the fight. I didn’t realize what I was doing, I was dead wrong. I expect some action from the commission. I’m not making an assumption, but I think I’ll get suspended. And I deserve to. When I saw it for myself last night, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe I did that. There was no intention on my part to do anything that would negatively impact the fight. I’m sorry, what more can I say, I screwed up.”

It think it could have been worse if he said that Marquez was ahead on points, Marquez quit and then Jaca was the actual fighter ahead on the cards and won a decision.

And the father has been selling insurance to fighters for fights in Texas. If that's not conflict of interest, I don't know what is.

One can guess that he learned the trick at the feet of the master...Dubya.

To borrow a coinage from "His Excellency, the Decider", Cole "misunderestimated" when he thought that he can avoid being overheard by covering his mic.

What difference does it make if he told him he was ahead on the score card?? Jaca got knocked out...It didn't motivate Marquez to try and knock him out! It would have been different if Marquez was behind and the ref said "look your down on the points! You need to knock him out!"

whiny little babys! have a bottle!

I believe that was a shame for boxing, AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!

Lawrence Cole should be barred from officiating another fight, he has had a long history of this kind of behavior. He is a deplorable referee and any network broadcasting fights should screen the cards to make sure this guy is not involved in the fights, or pull out support.
