Warriors boxing wins purse bid for Briggs vs Ibragimov

    Warriors wins Briggs-Ibragimov!

    Monday, November 27 2006

Warriors Boxing Promotions along with partners Golden Boy Promotions and Golden Grain Promotions/Sampson Lewkowicz won today's WBO purse bid for the right to stage the fight between WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs and mandatory challenger Sultan Ibragimov. The winning bid was $2,501,000, which outdistanced runnerup Don King Productions at $1,501,000.

No Don King? That is a good thing. Hopefully this fight gets made soon.

After that last boring performance by Briggs, I wonder how the promoter expects to turn a profit?

if i remember correctly they outbid king by like double for the right to stage igbraminov/ austin..... and that was a crap fight, so who knows what theyre doing here.... trying desperately yo get their money back.... or intentionally double their losses for tax write off purposes?

If it's not PPV this will be well worth watching. I expect Briggs to beat Ibragimov if the latter looks anything like the guy who faced Austin. This fight has to end in a KO.
