    Carl Froch: dedicated professional

This guy's currently ranked 7 by The Ring, and in the top ten (I believe, I guess I ought to check) of all organisations at Super Middle.

I was reading an interview with him the other day and what impressed me is that he's so dedicated to boxing he keeps his body in optimum condition. Not only does he never drink or eat the wrong foods, he never shags, either. Can you imagine being so dedicated to your sport that you never shag women?

I bet he's tossing off to compensate, obviously - in fact, he comes over as a total wanker, which makes it all the better. He's potentially the (unintentionally) funniest boxer in the world today.

At European level with 19 wins, (15 KOs), no losses, there's no saying how far he can go, or how his power will travel at world level. I'd be interested to see him in with the likes of Lacy or Kessler just to see how he'd get on... the guy CAN box, but how far can his "arms down" pissing about travel?

He's fighting this Friday, pm me if you're interested in seeing the fight and I'll send you the link when I've upped it.

maybe he should become a eunuch - he doesn't shag anyway so he might as well eliminate the worry of low-blows.

he does come across as a wanker, but i can see him being next in line of the fine british tradition of dominating the super middleweight division.

I'm going to the Notts for the Dodson fight, btw.

Anyway, yes I've heard in the past that Froch is very dedicated - lives like a monk. And he predicts he'll KO Kessler and Calzaghe within 18 months and go down as the best European fighter since the war - gonna be an interesting ride! Darren Barker, a kid I know, has been sparring with Froch and says he has the power to KO anybody as well as the awkwardness to land on anybody.

I'm not totally sold on the power 100% yet - what do you think would happen, Froch vs. Lacy, Geoff?

I don't know. I've only seen Lacy's last three fights, and from what I've seen I don't think he's quite in Froch's class. I think Froch would be too sharp for him, he can box out of range or up-close and varies his shots (and has some ****** angles), he's also too deceptive for a plodding, unintelligent fighter like Lacy - with the low-slung left luring him in and allowing Carl to counter Jeff's head off.

Would you say The Blow hits harder than Froch though? If so, we must presume Lacy could take punishment for the distance. And could Froch take what Lacy throws back? Remember, Froch DOES get clipped, even at domestic level (though he might not be inspired).

I've said it a few times, he made hard work of Brian Magee. Brian is a nice fella and all that, but that fight was very close up until the knockout. So if he's just about stumbling across the line against only a decent albeit solid and awkward fighter like Magee, he still has a lot to prove.

He looks to have a lot of power, he's rangy, he keeps his hands low, he's ****y/arrogant. I want to see him get a good ass kicking. lol

He hits harder than the Stallion hit Lacy, but the Stallion used to hit very, very hard before the major hand problems and major weight problems, when he loaded up that sweeping left hook from the southpaw stance.

And yeah, Lacy probably would catch and hurt Froch at certain points, but Froch says he's never even been hurt - let alone down. Not in the amateurs, in the gym or in the pro rings. And it's straight punches which Froch is prone to, which Lacy doesn't use.

I'd go with Froch, to hurt Lacy.

In Boxing Monthly. When I say "the other day" I'm probably talking about six months ago.
