It has nothing to do with Kessler's mandatory. That could have been worked around - or Kessler could have given up the WBC belt. - That's just a very lame excuse.

It has everything to do with Calzaghe not wanting to fight Kessler for whatever reason.

Man, anybody remember that sparring video feautring Fernando Vargas from a while back? Well, he was beating on MANFREDO. That's right, Fernando El Feroz Vargas was wooping Manfredo's ass like 2 months after Shane destroyed him. Imagine what Joe would do to this man.

The choice of opponent is a crock of **** though, although I strongly suspect it's a means to an end (Taylor).

Calzaghe vs. Taylor or Manfredo vs. Taylor will be a PPV fight and both Taylor and Calzaghe have upcoming commercials/fights that will hopefully legitimize their PPV status.

Ouma is a popular fighter that is made to order for Taylor-he will impress and fire up boxing.

Who is more popular then Manfredo? He too is probably made to order for Joe setting up what HBO is really after.

Not just a fight with Joe vs. Jermain but a successful PPV fight with Joe and Jermain. This is business.

lol so was lacy not a contender? i admit joe has hand trouble and may not be the easiest man to get in the ring but give him some credit he's beaten some good fighters and last year the whole of america said lacy was gonna show him up and knock him out! well he gave lacy the biggest thrashing i've ever seen and now u all forget what u were saying this tome last year!

Manfredo is just not in the same league - he'll simply be outclassed. A question do we think Jeff Lacy will ever come back?

I know that. You know that. Even the Danes know that, although they'll still say that it's because Calzaghe is ducking Kessler.

The good news is that Taylor-Calzaghe now looks locked for the summer of 2007. Which is excellent news - the top MW and golden boy of boxing vs the top SMW over the last decade. Who wouldn't be excited?
