Hell, I'm not sure if they ever could have; the kid's a monster and should be considered right up there with Mayweather as far as the pound-for-pound best in the sport....he may be the best. His competition has certainly been better than Mayweather's over the last few years. Also, he's beat the best from flyweight all the way up to junior lightweight....and has brought his power along with him, something Floyd hasn't done. Floyd never was a big puncher; but he did have some pop in his shots at 130, unlike now.

It is arguementative as to who is better between the two on a pound-for-pound basis.
no question, Manny Pacquiao is pound for pound #1. he has faced the better opposition. and has had the more exciting fights. no dancing and BSing in the ring, he knocks people out.

Interesting to see what would happen in a rematch. I agree with the above post in that the young guns are still young so fight some of the aging guys before they're over the hill.
Honestly, JMM is past his best too; and I feel Manny would stop him as well....later, probably; but Manny's in his peak right now. He looks better than he ever has. Now, instead of just that big straight left, he's got a right hook and has polished his boxing skills, thanks to Freddy Roach. Right now, the only man who can beat Manny is Manny. He's the complete package from what I saw Saturday. Morales is past his best; but he's not shot. The way he was fighting, he probably could have beaten most of the top junior lightweights Saturday......but Manny completely blew him away. Manny's got too much for anyone at 130 right now IMHO.

Not to demean Pacs past accomplishments, but he needs to fight some fresher competition. I mean he needs to beat some guys who are in somewhat of their prime, so that there is no room left to doubt his superiority. When he beats Barrera/Morales, there's always that little part in me that thinks he beat what was left of those guys.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that. Manny wants to beat the best from what I can see and isn't just in it for the money and fame.

Yes he is. C'mon now. He's been past it. His outpointing Jurarez just means he's still got enough to do that.

Ali still had enough to stop Joe Frazier in 75; but he was past his prime...and he was past his prime when he beat Shavers and regained his crown from Spinks.

Barrera's been past his prime for a while. Lighter weight fighters who have been in as many wars as Barera don't stay in their prime for long.

I was more or less indifferent towards Manny before last night; but he's made a fan of me.
