Salud Advises Pacquiao To Honor Golden Boy Contract

WBC founding secretary general and eminent lawyer Rudy Salud yesterday cautioned Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao to honor the contract he signed with Golden Boy some two months ago because there could be “big legal trouble” if Pacquiao considers himself a fighter of Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. That is true, what kind of BS is that, once you sign a contract, you have to honour it, and not wait 2 months later to say you have returned the money.

no official word yet from the pac camp though right? its just staements made by arum.

pacman obviously was signed by both...but arum went about things in a shady fashion he didnt even contact pacmans lawyers he went to pacman himself same as golden boy...this is a bit shady on both promos.

pacman did the smart thing even when arum said ask pacman about the contract pacman said no comment i want to go back home....all pacman has to do is say he signed under duress...

it will be a messy battle though.

but id rather see pacman with goldenboy because of the match ups.

None of us here have seen either contract signed by Pac. Until we do, we cannot pass judgement (and we're not judges, either).

It is possible that the fine print in Pac's original contract with Arum had verbage similar to the following: "the fighter (Pac) may not enter any other promotional agreements until such time as 120 days after this contract has expired. The company (Arum) retains promotional rights to the fighter until said time and has priority in determining the promotional future of the fighter. To break such time period (sign with another promotional company before the 120 day period) would constitute an automatic one-year extension of this contract."

If there is something similar to that in the contract Pac had signed with Arum, then he would've been in breech of contract by signing with GB and that would make that contract null in the eyes of the law and allow Arum to retain his promotional dictatorship with Pac.

Also, this could lead to a big legal battle between Arum and GB that would prevent Pac from fighting. Bad news for Pac.

pacman made a huge mistakes because this will get ugly! but they will try to settle it because pacman will be the biggest money maker this sport has ever seen and to not let him fight will be crazy!

I just hope they drop their pride and work things out...arum even said he would do a co promotion with oscar but only if arum gets to keep pacquiao! but oscars pride will not allow that he wants it all and to give arum pacman would be like he quit or loss...oscar even said in his interview it feels good to be one up over arum by signing pacquiao.

its messed up how these promoters snuck around to get pacman to sign a contract...arum is sneaky and oscar is sneaky.

im just glad pacman kept his focus shows he is maturing.

Manny ought to have his peeps around him at all times and not be allowed to do anything for his career without someone there to protect his intersts, all these promoters are sharks and they're looking for a phat meal to sink their teeth into.
