Pacman is one of the few southpaws who would probably own even if he had an orthodox style. He proved it when he TKO'd Barrera;(the guy who isnt phased by the southpaw gimmick.) I think Paq would still be a contender with just a loss or two more.

Ive said this all along. These guys are good but they wouldnt be nearly as good if they werent Southpaws, e****ally a guy like Pac. No disrespect to him but for a long time all he could do and all he would do was throw straight lefts the whole fight. You can get away with that because your a lefty but a righty couldnt get away with that. Just like his power. He has alot of power but it wouldnt kill anyone and no good fighter would be phased by it if he was a righty.

It kills you because he's a lefty and either you cant see the punch coming or you can see it coming but you still cant stop it and both of those things makes the punch hurt more. Plus, when you get hit by a lefty its always a clean shot and its always in a painful spot because most of the time you get hit straight on. When you get hit by a righty, you mostly get hit on the side of your head but when its a lefty they hit you square in your nose and everything.

No excuse though, it is what it is but it definatly makes it easier for him and very hard to beat.

MAB might be good against lefty's but I really study fights and I watch both him & the moves RJ does in there fights. Against Pac, MAB did that same move he does whenever someone throws a straight punch. He dips & steps back. Against a righty your always out of range but he did that against Pac and got caught square on the chin. Its like George Forman used to say. You do moves against rightys and your out of range but if you do that same exact thing against a lefty then your still in there range. Thats why it hurt so bad when Pac hit him. He's never been hit when he does that move. If you watch the fight back, the same thing happened just a second before that. Pac threw that left and MAB just stepped back and spun. Then a second later Pac threw the same punch and MAB did the same exact move but he caught him flush with it that time and you could tell MAB was hurt bad and its because your not used to being hit by those type of punches because no righty can hit you with it.

Against Tarver, RJ did what he always does. He does like Floyd. He steps back and he puts his right glove on the side of his face. Against a righty he blocks all the left hooks that way. Its a perfect defense but against a lefty Tarver shot that punch straight down the pipe and thats why it hurt Roy so bad. He never gets hit clean when he does that but a lefty can.

Thats what people dont understand about Floyd vs Zab. Floyd was super cautious and showed Zab the utmost respect because he knew that no matter how great his D was, Zab could shoot it straight down the pipe and it would hurt and you saw Zab land a couple of those early that made Floyd cautious. So did Chop Chop against him but a righty never hits him with those punches. Its a huge advantage in being a lefty and the punch will hurt much more because its a blind punch.

Just like when Sanders basically ruined Wladimer. He didnt see the punches coming. Then he knew Sanders would throw them, could see it coming, but because it was so awkward he still couldnt stop it and all that makes it hurt even more. Then it got so bad that he had to act like a girl or act like a guy whos scared. He actually started just pushing both his hands in front of him and to catch the punch in mid air. thats how bad it got

Very good assesment, I would also add to that the way you roll your shoulders to avoid a right hand from an orthodox fighter makes you very open to the straight left and uppercut of a southpaw. Also southpaws dont roll their shoulders as much as their hips when slipping punches. Thats why it's so difficult to hit them with a jab without exposing the orthodox fighter to a serious counterpunch.

Chop Chop Corley would've definately been doing gay **** if he wasn't a southpaw.

Pernell Whitaker would've been a crackhead (oh, wait...he was a crackhead even though he was lefty. )

Well who cares because the fact remains that these guys are southpaws. It's like saying Thomas Hearns wouldn't have been great if he were only 5'8". It's true, if he tried fighting his style while looking eye to eye with, or up at, his opponents, he'd have been blasted out in short order his chin being what it is.

Just to be fair, there's two sides to that coin. A southpaw is also hit more cleanly by the right hand of an orthodox fighter. It's true that southpaws are rarer than orthodox fighters, but that stance can also bemade to work against the fighter if a right-handed fighter knows what he's doing. The thing with Manny is that he gets low alot of the time when he throws the left hand so it's harder to hit him with the right hand, and I guess nobody leans to their left and throws the right hookercut whe he comes in for fear of being caught with the left if they don't lean far enough to their left. I think his stance is a factor, but his strength and speed intimidate opponents into not doing some of the things they might do against someone else.
