    Look at this

In http://www.boxrec.com/ if you look at the right side the rankings it has Fernando Vargas as a #1 middleweight and Hopkins as #1 lightmiddleweight. And Vargas is ranked as #3 in the middleweight.

I dont think Vargas can even make 154 - dont you?

I actually emailed Vargas 1 time about fighting B-hop & Vargas said, in his own way, that why was B-Hop going after lower weight classes.

Yeah Vargas said his 154 pound days are over. He should of moved up to 160 awhile back. He was a very big junior middleweight and I think he can even be a super middleweight and still be effective.

I think he was a little on the chunky side and shoulda originally been fighting at 147.

He may have been able to fight at 147 early in his career but he is a big bodied person. He will always look big against most of his opponents.

That site is a good one for references, but the rankings are all somewhat crazy. I don't know how they figure them, but it's obviously a computer, and not a boxing fan, compiling them.
