Why is boxing in the UK more popular in the U.S. when we have the best fighters fighting over here?

Wait, are you saying that people in the us pay more attention to the uk boxing scene than we do? If so, that's news to me. But if that's the case it's probably to watch for prospects or potential champions. Carl froch has a bigger following in the us than the uk so I've heard.

I'd think it was cause America is 10 times bigger than the uk. A lot of us fighters have little to no fan base. Where as because the uk is so small. 9/10 your gunna know someone from your town and city and you'd support them or at least know of them. That's why Americans will call our fighters hype jobs. Not because we think the fighter is the best ever. But because we support our fighters just like Mexicans, Puerto Ricans etc. and were proud that for such a small country our fighters can still compete at world level. where as America are probably more focused on their American football/baseball/basketball/ice hockey.

Because the US has 5 major professional sports leagues, the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and MLS. 2 major college sports, college football and men's college basketball. As well as NASCAR, golf, and tennis.

All are more popular and more followed than boxing. That puts boxing outside of the top 10.

I can't think of anything for the UK besides EPL, cricket and rugby (which I believe is only popular at the international level, not club level), and F1. Are golf, tennis, snooker, or darts more popular than boxing in the UK?

Boxing is getting bigger in the UK again, but go back five years ago and it was virtually dormant besides a very small handful of fighters that were on the world stage.

I'd say the most popular sports in the UK are Football, Rugby League and Union (both very big at club level), F1, Golf, Tennis, and even Darts is pretty big in the UK these days.

Boxing used to be HUGE in the UK back in the days of Eubank, Benn and Bruno etc, but I think a lot of that used to be down to the fact that the fights were on free to view TV. These days any fight which is even remotely worth watching is on subscription TV such as Sky or BoxNation or even PPV.

Boxnation fights I have no beef with by having to buy Sky Sports entire package just to one or two fights a month at a hefty price tag of £60/70... THAT IS NOT HAPPENING!!

I don't blame people for less and less watching sports they simply are becoming to expensive.

Boxnation is great! Except you do get the occasional blunder. We didn't 'to get the huck fight and it doesn't look like we're getting the Broner fight

Boxing is actually a niche sport in the UK. Why is it more popular here than in the US?

Possibly because most of us grew up with it, it was big in the 90s on free TV.

We have a tonne of other sports too so that's not the difference.

One of my gripes with boxnation is when they replay a fight they just replay the entire broadcast rather than the individual fights, so you gotta listen to steve lilis blabbering on half an hour between fights, which is fine when it's live but very annoying when you just want to watch the damn replay.
