  • British Boxing fans are Fair Weather Fans!!!!!

The carry on since the Froch fight has been DISGUSTING to me.

British boxing fans slating him, calling him useless, calling him a ****, saying they are "happy everyone can see what a twat he is" Wanking over Groves now etc.

Carl deserves a bit more respect.

He is a true rarity in British boxing, none of our fighters have had runs like he has, none of our fighters test themselves fight in fight out

Calzaghe, Hamed, Haye, Eubank, Benn, McGuigan, Nelson, i could go on and on

Our history is filled with guys who went "the warren route" guys who are just a laughing stock to international fans and the americans

guys who were happy to win a belt and defend it at home year in year out against guys with a wbo rating of #8, colubian road sweepers, spanish milkmen

Froch has been in with the best again and again and again

The only one who's done the same was Lewis and even he missed a couple of fights, Ricky only fougt the best when there was massive money to be made.

British fight fans disgust me, no respect whatsoever and it's pathetic. They booed groves in for no reason whatsoever and as soon as it looked like he was going to win they all hopped bandwagons.

Not Georges fault by any means but it just goes to show, no loyalty and no respect.

To be honest, I haven't seen anyone saying that stuff about Froch but I tend to stay away from the main page in the days following a major fight. The amount of bollocks bandied about reaches absurd levels.

But I'm friends with lots of boxing fans & everyones ire seems to be directed at the referee (and some at Hearn).

A lot of these guys posting negative things about Froch weren't posting during the build up, I haven't seen that many posters "switch" on him, it's just that the Froch fans are less vocal. Those criticising him seem to be people who never liked him that now have an opportunity to stick the boot in.

Whatever, he won again in another war.

The good thing for Froch is that the rematch will be huge and he'll finally get the acclaim and attention he deserves. He beats Groves again imo, although he'll need an improved performance.

He is a true rarity in British boxing, none of our fighters test themselves fight in fight out.
He's a rarity in global boxing, Froch probably has the best active "back-to-back" record in the sport. Abner Mares also up there along with one or two others.

True I can't believe how the fans changed on him in less than 45 minutes

That's quite a broad sweeping statement. There's not a ****geneous group of 'British boxing fans' that can be judged and dismissed wholesale. If there was, and with boxing fans in general, we'd all be condemned.

Anyhow, you feel let down and moved to the point of being disgusted with a group of fans so you've felt the need to vent that and be critical, which is natural. By the same token there's a number of boxing fans who feel let down and moved to the point of being disgusted with Carl Froch so they've felt the need to vent that and be critical, which is also only natural. They're feeling the same thing as you, different manner of expression, different target but it's the same emotion and need to vent, so surely you can empathise?

Some of these fans have heavily identified with Froch and emotionally invested in him and have done so for many years. They're feeling genuinely disappointed in the way he's conducted himself, in his level of delusion, in his level of arrogance, in the way he attempted to belittle the fans in the arena with his post fight comments. In short, they feel foolish to have invested so much in the man to now realise that he isn't the type of person that they first believed him to be.

I agree. He's been a good ambassador for British Boxing..travelled the globe facing top oppisition. In a string of high profile fights which won't be matched by another British boxer any time soon IMO.

To top if off he's given us exciting fights while doing so.
The ref stopped the fight premauturely..that's not Froch's fault, the boo's he got were daft.

Yeah i agree carl is right he shouldn't be the one booed for the decision its not his job to stop a fight. George did deserve the chance to try and defend himself though i think the fans were just pissed off because of the fact george didnt go down... I mean come on its a world title fight.

British fans are the best because they care...

My feeling on Froch is that he just doesn't show anyone any respect (apart from Kessler) but expects everyone to love and adore him, granted he has a great career but how much of that is due to the super 6.

I don't blame Froch at all for what happened in the fight, but he could have dealt with the interview afterwards a million times better, he showed no class at all in it and its just put me off him, I think its a shame because I was beginning to like the humble side of him in the build up against Kessler (apart from the 'kill' remark) and he just seemed to get the hump when someone dared do it back to him.

The boo's only started towards him when he said the referee made a brilliant decision, up until that point they were solely towards Howard Foster...

I totally respect what he has done in the ring, but never really been a fan of the things he has said outside of it.

Agreed. Froch is so good in the ring and travelling to take on all, but so frustrating outside of it. He is almost obsessed with wanting to be seen as better than JC.
Always reiterating what he has done.
He should get some good PR training in. Otherwise come the possible rematch he'll be disliked by the british public and I think that will effect him in a detrimental way.

Still firmly on the Froch train, but Groves went about his business like true badass.
