  • Frampton at The Odyssey update

Watched the Frampton fight last night and was impressed.

Very focussed guy in the ring, especially with 9,000 fans creating a huge atmosphere for him and the whole expectation that he's going to follow in McGuigan's footsteps now clearly on his shoulders. There's a coolness there that I think will really serve him well as he goes for the big belts.

He just broke Parodi down combination-combination. I love the way he's so patient, picks his shots and is prepared to fight off the back foot as well. He also stepped on and off the pace extremely well, knowing when to box or mount a surge.

The bodyshot which finished Parodi - who was light-fisted but definitely no mug and trying to make things happen - was a real chiller.

Parodi clearly a tier below true world class, but stopped in six rounds and Martinez and Mathebula had better be looking over their shoulders!

    Frampton-Martinez 2 makes a lot of sense

There is nothing Martinez can do to beat this kid, Frampton is the best contender in the division but I honestly believe Mathebula will beat Martinez. Due to his size that's a very difficult fight for Frampton but the skill and power he carries may make him IBF champion by next year.

Frampton Martinez was a cracker, but i'd prefer to see him face someone new like Mathebula.

Unreal atmosphere last night, always great to be a part of it. Although I don't think it'll happen, I hope Kiko beats Mathebula. Wouldn't fancy Carl coming up against someone who has 6 inches on him in height and 10 inches in reach.

Agreed about the atmosphere; even Bunce struggled to make himself heard which must be a first! Belfast did boxing proud.

Mathebula's a proper handful but I actually think Frampton has the tools to beat the guy; if he gets inside that jab and hits the guys ribs then Mathebula surely goes down as well. There's alot of skinny body to hit there.

What did you make of O'Kane? Wasn't that impressed myself and I don't think he's bothering the big boys without a rethink.

To be honest, mate, I zoned out during parts of that fight. Thought it was dull and both fighters were pretty sloppy.

Very good assessment. I was pleasantly surprised that Parodi actually came to fight. It would have been a very tough night for Frampton if he wasn't world class. I think Frampton has a chance of beating anyone not named Rigondeaux tbh. He takes Quigg apart.

Iv'e got a feeling Mathebula will beat Kiko..but whoever it is Frampton will go into that one full of confidence. Especally with the home support behind him...The atmosphere sounded un-real on Saturday.

Frampton Vs Quigg is already a massive fight...imagine it in 2014 with both guys holding World Titles
