The eternal optimist in me thinks that Matthew Macklin, faced by his third and almost certainly final tilt at a world middleweight title, will be fitter, more focussed than ever before and will use his fights with Martinez and Sturm in a positive way. E.G. he will draw confidence from these hugely credible performances and erradicate the mistakes he previously made.
The eternal optimist in me also thinks that Golvokin (as good as he is) has yet to meet a man who hits as hard and often as MM or someone who delivers this level of bustling aggression and raw, brute strength.
And perhaps, just perhaps Golvokin lacks enough experience to avoid being drawn into the kind of artillery battle he could actually lose.
This is the last throw of the dice for MM and Golvokin is a clear favourite and has the tools to do the job inside the distance....but something tells me that Macklin finds a way to win.
All views welcome....
