  • Harry Simon

Was a quality fighter back in the day until his driving got him in trouble.

Now in his 40's he fights tomorrow against a journeyman at the Light Heavy limit.

Probably too little too late but will be interesting to see how far he can go.

this guy could have been special but wasn't it drinking and driving that got him trouble? vehicular manslaughter or something?

I don't know - he should a lot of promise and didn't he beat Winky Wright while he was still extremely green? Admittedly I didn't see the fight so I don't feel right commenting on it.

why are you overating him because he beat Winky?

As for him being green - it was big step-up for him, but in fights of him I saw later, I never saw him fighting better. He was fighting with his heart, great physicall fitness and chin, so he peaked early but without too much room for improvement.
Also, if you say you never saw Winky-Simon fight, then I assume you never saw Harry Simon fighting at all. You really think it's good idea to assess him just looking at boxrec record?
I appreciate your assessment but with regard to me assessing his record based on boxrec - that is a bit presumptuous of you, no? There were at least a couple of Simon fights that were/are available from when he was close to prime. Rodney Jones (i believe) is one and I will admit i am an avid reading of ring magazine so part of what my opinion is based on is Joe Santoquilito's writing.

Of course there was/is plenty of his other fights avaible, but I know that most people who saw Harry fighting, looked at Wright fight first, so I think it's legit reason to think, that someone who didn't see that fight, didn't see any other, less "popular" fights either. And boxrec is the most popular place to get knowledge for most boxing fans.
              Peace.
so you assumed that the Wright fight was the only one in which I saw. lol That's the definition.

But in any case, I hear you about boxrec. I have been a member there since 2002 and a fan, like die-hard, since i was six. i am 37 now.

              nice chatting with you, brother.
