  • Anybody To Beat Team Klitschko?

Does anybody think one of the guys coming up through the division at the moment have a shot at beating Wladamir or Vitali?

Guys like Helenius, Povetkin, Fury, Stiverne, Chisora, Wach, Perez, Charr or Price in with a chance down the line?

Personally I believe they will retire on top like they are now, but I was just wondered if you guys rated anybody who has it in them to topple Team Klitschko.

Perez and Price are my favourite up and comers (well Fury is my biggest favourite but he's ****e) but I think old age will beat them tbh. I cant see anyone beating them in the next 2 years. Maybe longer for Wlad.

I dont think they'll retire without losing they'll want to get as many defences as possible so will carry on until someone either de-thrones them; or gives them a BIG scare

I love the line about Fury, sums him up for me!

also agree, they'll retire unblemished from now on... there's nothing good / mature enough for it. Which is a shame all round as they've not been tested for a long time and even they would like to be (I imagine)

Thought Perez looked very promising in Prizefighter. He needs to sort his promotion out though because at the moment he is just shutting out journeyman like Zack Page (decent journeyman though).

I've been most impressed with Price out of the current domestic crop of heavyweights in Britain. Totally get what you mean about Fury, I'll tune in to watch beacuse he's an exciting fighter and has all the talk, but the stoppage against Pjakic for me was premature and smacked of protecting the promotional gem for Mick Hennessey.

Helenius and Povetkin are probably the most developed but Sauerland Promotions seem more content to let these two guys pick up every other version of a world belt than put them in with the Klitschko's, disappointing.

Wladamir fighting Mormeck fustrates me. He has in recent times fought guys like Ibragimov and Chagaev who had undefeated records, and Haye, Chambers and Thompson only had one loss on record. This is fair play, but with all these fresh potential challengers out there, he goes in with a guy who hasn't really done anything great since getting KO'd by David Haye.

I think Evander may have something to say about that!

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't put Price/Fury in with Wladimir right now. I am curious though to see how the Klitschkos' techniques, tendencies and strategies would change if they couldn't physically dominate their opponent, especially Wladimir, whose chin, in my opinion, is still up for question.

I was even curiously looking forward to the prospect of Vitali-Valuev for the same reason. (Is that fight still a possibility? :P)

Yeah I don't think I would put Price in with him yet, he hasn't had enough fights, but does show a lot of promise.

Be interesting to see who Fury fights next. I'd like to see him in with Michael Grant after his win over Botha, or a fight with Mike Perez would maybe mesh better in terms of styles. One thing is for sure, if Hennessey is gonna take Fury to the top, they are gonna have to manage him carefully on the basis of his last two fights where is was rocked and put down. Him and Price should inevitably fight down the line.

Not heard of Valuev returning to action. Now he doesn't have a belt who the **** would want to fight that beast!

I've no idea whats going on with Perez, he should be upping his comp by now, he looks like he could be damn good but only fights every few months against journeymen. If he steps up his comp he could be a threat. Even if he is a bit small he uses that to his advantage.

Helenius seems a bit over rated to me tbh, I wouldnt be surprised if he struggles against Chisora (he'll get the win even if he doesnt deserve it), and Pov imo has wasted the last 2 years. He coulda been a geniune challenger but will just be another victom if he ever takes on a Klit now.

Mormeck is a mandatory. **** fight, but if he doesnt take it then we'll have another undeserving HW champ. Between the brothers they've beaten everybody who's been willing to get in the ring with them who's worth a damn.

Price is my pick to be a top HW. But he's 2 years away from a threat. And as other posters have said about him, we havent seen him get hit on the chin yet.

Ah Mormeck is a mandatory, fair play then. Just shows how much you have to do to be a mandatory challenger in the heavyweight division though!

Helenius arguably has the best record on paper out of all the prospects, it all depends on how much you want to read into wins over Brewster, Peter and Liakhovich, former world champions but definitely seen better days.

Hopefully Povetkin is ready to kick on now after beating Chagaev. Has been a victim of inactivity. Hopefully Sauerland will put him in with a Klitschko, but I get the sense they will be content to let him cruise along as the WBA 'regular' champion.

Yeah Price needs tougher tests now. He is got a very good style not too disimilar to Klitschko, which means you won't find the chin very often. If he ain't a glass jaw though I reckon he has all the attributes to go far.
