Poor Martin's probably lying under his desk sweating bullets just thinking about it! As I say it is a bit of work for the mod but if we do something like that where a suggestions topic gets made a sticky so it's right there that would make things a bit easier I suppose.

Sounds like a good idea to try. You know, normally I don't like something that smacks of elitism, but they way things have been in NSB lately...I don't know, I just can't post much in there anymore. Especially, you know, I'll try to put up something about a prospect or a lesser-known fight and it will get drowned in the one million posts about the same old **** (which are all naturally just guys flaming each other).
A couple of issues come to mind:
1) Will this be organized as a member lounge? If so, there will be problems for those of us who are already members of another lounge, since I think you can only join one at a time. Martin will be in the same boat.
2) What do we do with users that have strong boxing knowledge but can come off as a bit of an ******* sometimes? I don't mean the people that flame and contribute nothing. I mean the ones that know their stuff but are pretty disagreeable a lot of the time.
I know in the *******s site they moderate the forum and it works out pretty well. However I like the user base here much more, which is why I can't emigrate over there.

[[[Was chatting to Martin yesterday in reposnse to how bad its got on non stop boxing.]]]
===========================
I'm pretty new here and enjoyed my first few days, sort of. All the signiture lines and "avatars" made viewing very clunky, so I took Reeno's advice and screened that baloney and that was much better. Then I noticed that any decent thread or posts were quickly buried by flaming juveniles spamming up the board. How many more threads do we need on Wlad besides the couple of dozen already established?
I guess this Reeno guy runs the website and would have to be convinced to allow a private message board. Somebody would have to volunteer to screen and let him know who is allowed in and who is kicked off. It would be a bonus if all nonmembers could also view the posts and if they wanted to respond to the posts they could on a "debutante" board where they present their responses. Someone would have decide who knew enough to be invited in and who was too foul mouthed, racist, or immature to be allowed in. BTW, I don't mind ignorance in boxing, few will ever know it all, but it's the AH boys who watch a few fights and just slam fighters with vulgar insults who really have no interest in boxing. They're just the drunken fans throwing trash and brawling at sports arenas all over the country.

KID BLACKIE YOU WOULD BE A WELCOME ADDITON AND BOMB YOU KNOW YOU WOULD. and no one knows it all KB or proably even a smidgen of it!!!!
Whenever i talk to yogi he frightens the **** out of me cos I though i knew a bit about boxing this fella is a different league.Speaking of Yogi how could i miss him out....
yes this would operate as a lounge im afraid i cant see any other way of doing it and to suggest so would be above my station.
As the folk who would be invited to attend im not anticipating ANY flaming at all. If you look at the people who have posted in return here, they are all decent boxing fans who know their stuff and who just want to talk boxing.
So talk boxing, sure take the piss out of each other have a gigle but any serious stuff that is repeated, thats it youre barred at the consensus of the group.
Baically im trying to establiush a mature sensible board here.
Where everyone gets along in the true socalist spirit of these chat boards.
A place where you know you can talk boxing and you many not agree with people but you know you arent going to have to suffer the childish rants that so often destroy decent threads.
and I have been involved in my fair share i am ashamed to admit.
however this maybe somewhat utopian but i think that if you can solve things in a respectful manner then it should be done that way.
i can comprehensively say ive never had a cross word with anyone who has posted in this thread so far.
nuff said really.Last edited by J !; 09-29-2005, 09:21 AM.

Until now....
No but seriously I'm a good member, I know my boxing not to Yogi's extent but I still know my stuff. And I don't usually curse/namecall because that's not my style.Last edited by InThisCorner; 09-29-2005, 10:15 AM.

I would definitely like to be involved, but I know I cannot assume any kind of responsibilty for maitenance or moderating.
I post from work. I cannot do so on the weekends/evenings, & also don't know if I can always be on here (though I usually am) during the workday itself.
Does sound like a great idea, all in all.
Good stuff, Julian.

I don't think insults would become an issue in here.
Everyone knows who they are dealing with, & there would be no idiots on here to get anyone heated.
Yes, I insult many a fool on this board....the key word being "fool".
