I arrived in Liverpool about 10 o'clock on Wednesday evening ready to get down to business and the first thing I found out was my opponent had pulled out.
Apparently Alejandro Lakatos has gone down with a bout of pneumonia. Now I know it's a little cold and at 36 he is getting on a bit, but pneumonia? What's wrong with a good old-fashioned cold!
I've got to say Frank Warren and his match-maker Dean Powell did a tremendous job finding a replacement and in all honesty, I think they've found me a better calibre of opponent.
Nabjid Mohammedi is not bad at all. He's the EU champion, which is the one beneath the European, he is ranked in the top 10 by the WBO.
I've seen a couple of clips of him and he looks good; he's 26 and is hungry and he's got nothing to lose. He also looks a little ****y.
It is frustrating to have such a late change - it's only happened to me once and that was in a four-rounder - but I guess I'll just have to take it out on this new bloke.
I've got to be honest and say my preparation was never really about what Lakatos could do, it was all about what I was going to do. Mohammedi might be a bit of a dangerman, but not much has changed in that respect.
To get to the places I am going in boxing you have to deal with this sort of thing - and that's what I intend to.
Now we're here in Liverpool, I feel much better; now it really feels like fight time!
We had the presser this morning and after that it is just a question of relaxing ahead of Saturday. This afternoon my dad Vince and my other trainer, Alun, took a walk into Liverpool city centre, just to have a look around the shops. It was pretty cold, so I had the big black beanie hat and scarf on so no-one recognised me.
Mind you, it was a bit nippy so it was nice to get back into the hotel and warm up. I will just relax now until the weigh-in tomorrow afternoon, keeping an eye on my weight. It is never an issue but still needs to be right before I step on the scales.
That will also be the first time I get to see what this Mohammedi is all about. Bring it on...
