  • Haye v Hobson Oct 14.

Tuesday August 9 Fight Academy Press Release

    Hobson-Haye back on

The eagerly awaited grudge match between Mark Hobson and David Haye is back on, promoters Fight Academy have confirmed. The meeting, for Hobson’s British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles, will take place on Friday October 14th. SKY televise live.

Hobson was to have defended against mandatory challenger Haye in July, but a hamstring injury forced Haye to pull out with a week to go. Now fit to resume training, British Boxing’s bitterest rivals will be able to settle their differences once and for all.

And Hobson’s trainer, Chris Aston, has wasted no time in firing the first verbal volley.

“It would seem that Haye has found a miracle cure. He went on and on about how he’d beat Hobson so easily so why did he pull out? If he’s in a different class to Hobson he should still have been able to win, injured or not.”

Former world amateur silver medallist Haye has won 13 of his 14 fights, all by knockout, and is eager to test himself on the European and World stage. But Aston feels his charge will curtail such lofty ambitions.

“Someone should explain to Haye that if he wants to win titles he actually has to turn up and fight. Hobson was looking superb in training last time and we’ll be picking up exactly where we left off. We’re very confident of winning this.”

The 29-year-old Hobson, who secured the coveted Lonsdale belt outright with a points victory over Bruce Scott last December, has issued Haye with a stark warning.

“We all know what’s gone on. Haye better turn up this time.”

Excellent, still go for Haye by early ko

That sounds like a good plan...

I live just outside London so I'll be able to travel home after the fight... It'll be a change for me to go too a boxing event with other knowledgable boxing fans.

If that fight happens in London, (Hopefully York Hall, Bethenal Green!!!) - Count me in!
