  • Three British prospects that have World champion potential and three that don't.

Three British prospects that could become World Champions:

    Nicky Cook
    Kevin Mitchell
    Amir Khan

Three British prospects that won't become World champions:

    Carl Froch
    David Haye
    Enzo Macrenelli

This is just my opinion... Do any of you agree or dissagree?

    Nicky Cook
Yes, he's a good fighter but i think he needs some promotional power behind him.

    Kevin Mitchell
He's got talent and he's an angry boy, maybe when he's a man will turn that un controlled agression into desire which is likely. I think he can be world class.

    Amir Khan
He'll get so much help it will be hard not for him to make it.

    Carl Froch
No, he's got talent but he's no way near as good as he thinks he is, his out of control ego will ruin any talent he has.

    David Haye
I think he has desire to be world class, if he makes the right move he could be but its another ego problem.

    Enzo Macrenelli
has world class power, not a great deal of boxing ability but the desires there, the cruiser division not great so there a chance he can make it.

I think that all three that you said won't become world champions could very well become world champions, especially seen as Froch now has Oscar De La Hoya behind him. I think David Haye will become undisputed cruiserweight champ one day. He learned so much from the Thompson loss, and was fighting Lolenga Mock in his fifth fight. Mock just stopped Charles Brewer. Fair enough, thats two weights down but to fight an operator like that in your fifth fight is impressive in my opinion. He's not really got a chin, but thats just going to make him all the more exciting, isnt it?!

I agree with the list bar Carl Froch, yes he's talking to much **** when he has no right to but he's confident in his ability maybe over confident. He's definatley got to work on a few things but I personally believe he will become a World Champ someday.

It's difficult to argue that it isn't likely that Khan will be a world champion of one sort or another. And Cook has a good shot in future if the featherweight division opens up a bit.

I disagree about Froch and Haye though. Both have defensive flaws, and there probably is a question about Haye's punch resistance, but I still believe both have good enough natural tools to take them to a world title.

Agree about Maccarinelli - he's a product of a hype machine who looks good when he's got nothing in front of him, but hasn't shown the skill, toughness or sharpness to suggest he can make it at the next level.

He's got the power and with his range he's got a chance against anyone, i dont think he's a skillful fighter so in most other division he wouldnt do very well.

But he has the tools to beat Nelson to win a genuine world title at cruiser.

I think Carl Froch and Kevin Mitchell can go places. Frochy is a ****er and if you go at him I doubt you'll win.

David Haye is in love with himself too much, naturally.. and he still trains at posh gyms using expensive equipment etc, I don't think he trains hard enough either. He was exposed against Carl Thompson. I can see that guy more interested in what Porsche or Ferrari he wants to buy than training hard for an up-coming fight. He probably spends too much time at the haidressers too when he should working his ass off at the gym.

Khan is nice. Really has some talent. Very quick feet, and has good teams behind him. Frank will guide him carefully, and he'll come good.

the only problem, is that his names khan, and hes extream, he comes from bolton, and my pals up north know his ppl. there are many other boxers that are better than him. how can you say hes good, david bailey didnt lay a punch on him. he knocked out a running man. !!!

the fact is all the guys mentioned above have a chance of getting a world title, its possible with so many belts and holders it depends on form and timing, to keep hold of a belt is the thing.

Kevin is developing into a really nice boxer, the only thing is like Cook he suffers terribly with his hands, i spoke with him in the undercard of the Symonds V minter fight a few weeks back and his hands were busted to ****.

Froch could go further but i dont like his low hands and i would like to see him in with someone who would make him work.

Haye has the offensive power and skills to be a world champ but like you say does he have the desire. I dont agree with whomever said he hasnt got a lot fo punch residtance, well he took one of the bigger punchers in the divisions shots flush and didnt get knocked out in the Cat. So its not the ressitance, it is the cardio vascular fitness that worries me. He did no actual roadwork for the thompson fight, well im sorry but running on a treadmill aint the same as getting up early and running the roads.

Sometimes the old ways are best.

Cookie i think will end up fringe world class but i cant see him beating the likes of Chi or Marquez, Harrison maybe but in a year or so's time.

Enzo wont beat nelson, he will get schooled.

Kahn looks good in fact better than that but you cant tell yet.
