Simpson just champion

John Simpson produced the performance of his life to rip the British featherweight title from Martin Lindsay on the Ulsterman's home turf.
Lindsay came into the second defence of his British title as a hot favourite against the Scotsman, who had lost seven of his 28 contests coming into the fight.
Lindsay was 17-0 but he came out second best in a gruelling war against the challenger, losing 116-113 on all three judges' scorecards.
Even a fiercely partisan Belfast crowd could not argue with that verdict.
The opening rounds were even but Simpson began to take control of the fight from the fourth round, a series of punishing body shots draining the strength from the champion.
Lindsay rallied in the eighth and probably claimed that one, but Simpson continued to enjoy plenty of success.
The challenger took control again in the closing rounds and Lindsay's right eye was virtually closed as Simpson continued to march forward and rain in the blows.
It was an incredibly brave effort from Lindsay to rally in the final round and edge it with some flurries that were inspired by desperation and pride.
But it was Simpson who had done enough, claiming the win that has resurrected his career when by his own admission he had looked to be fading from the scene.
Simpson told Sky Sports: "Knowing that my career might be over, it really scared me, so I had to dig deep because this man is a great fighter. Similar styles, so it was a great contest, which I knew it would be from the start."
Simpson first won this title in 2007 and has now claimed the Lonsdale Belt outright.
