  • Kevin Mitchell to return to action in style when he faces Stephen Foster Jr in April

British super featherweight champion Kevin Mitchell is looking to return to action in style when he faces Stephen Foster Jr at the end of April.

Mitchell has not fought since June, on the Kelly Pavlik-Gary Lockett undercard, as he has been recovering from surgery to his left hand that has been causing him trouble since before he turned professional.

In Foster he faces a tough test in his first fight back and he insists he is not merely looking for victory but to do so in better style than former WBO super featherweight champion Alex Arthur managed.

"I had the hand injury for three and a half four years," Mitchell told Setanta.com. "I've had it done. I've been out of action for ten months now it's all going well. I'm back fighting again at the end of April against Stephen Foster Jr for the British title.

"I think its a fight that shows. I'll go and do a brilliant job on Stephen Foster. I know Stephen Foster's a brilliant fighter himself but I'll do a greta job on him, take him out and show I'm ready for the next level."

Mitchell spoke to Setanta.com at the London Schoolboys championship, an event he won as a youngster, when he developed a reputation as a ferocious puncher.

"I believe [the power] came from my dad," Mitchell said. "I was knocking kids out at a young age. It was natural but I trained hard, God was with me and I did the job.

"I love seeing kids train and fight and they end up. I'd love to be an old man retired as an old world champion looking at these kids and say I saw them when they were young."
