  • Floyd Mayweather

Hey guys, I am new here.. I did a search for this and didn't come up with much.

I was just wondering.. whats your take on Floyd Mayweather as a boxer and how do you feel about his retirement?

Who should Floyd Mayweathers next fight been with if not oscar?

I know some people say that he still had a lot of people to beat, but what do you guys say who are really into the scene?

Ahh.. was that a dumb question? Sorry guys.. I enjoy watching boxing but never really have anyone to talk to about it. I don't really know a silly question when I ask one.

its all good... floyd is a very controversial topic here..... but ill help out with my input

As a boxer, I believe hes one of the best to ever do it... his defense and ring smarts are all-time-great weapons...

His retirement, is definitely pre-mature... he still had a lot to prove, and he retired with a lot of prime viable threats in his division... BUT, he's already a HOF fighter, and I think he felt his motivation and focus for the sport slipping... so instead of paying for it in the ring, he just retired... but he will be back... gauranteed.

If pacman beats Oscar, I can see a Pacman fight being made... other then that, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Paul Williams would all be fights he should take...

If you got noone to talk about boxing with, this is your place.

I have always sort of liked Mayweather. I have his gloves from the hatton fight hanging in my room. I mean he is pretty arrogant, but he does seem like a good boxer. Weren't they suppose to make a de la hoya vs mayweather 2? In september of 2008?

Yes... rumor has it... Floyd wanted 50 MILL, and Oscar offered 35, and no more... So Floyd just retired... Partly I think because he wanted to try and call Oscars bluff and make Oscar give him the 50 MILL... AND ALSO, I think he was honestly bored with the sport, and was already loaded with cash...

If you want my opinion the animated gifs I made in my profile will tell the story. But some may not agree.
Skip my opinion and listen to what Kellerman said the night of Zab Judah vs Joshua Clottey. He said, Floyd's 'legacy' is NOT secure. People are talking. Barber shops/water cooler talk etc. saying he hasn't fought the best in his era. If he's retired because he's lost interest in the sport, then stay retired, but if he cares about securing his legacy, he's gotta step out of retirement to challenge the guys at the top right now.

I agree with this. May's got skills no doubt. Flawless Defense in the ring, and seems just as good out of the ring. He's protecting that perfect record and is careful with who he fights.

With all the hype about him, alot of his fan's confidence exceeds his OWN confidence in himself. He believes his time is done. His hands are shot,
But his fans say he would've beat Cotto, Marg, Clottey, or Williams.
That doesn't matter much if he won't step in the ring with them.

I don't recall hearing good buzz about Floyd/Oscar 2. No one was interested. Regardless of weather you're a Floyd fan or Floyd hater or Neutral, you have to admit the Welter Weight division is saturated with talent right now. The guys at the top (Cotto, Marg, Clottey, Williams, Berto, Cintron etc) would make for an exciting match up for Floyd and would help boxing.

Yeah I think you guys are def. right. It does seem like he retired before his legacy was secured. I would really enjoy seeing him get back in the ring though.
