  • Amir Khan question...

I am probably what you would call a Khan hater but.... I think it is unfair to say Khan has got a glass jaw. He was always overrated and i'm glad he got beat. Hopefully it will bring him down a few pegs and make him realise he isn't the superstar that he wants to be.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is this... Obviously his chin isn't iron, we all know this, but, Breidis Prescott was known for being a puncher and a bit of a knockout artist so for Khan to lose by KO is not surprising at all. If he was knocked out by somebody like Paulie Malignaggi then fair enough but I don't think it's fair for everybody to say he has NO chin when we all knew that Prescott could pack a bit of a punch.

    What do you think?

big shots, but khan shouldnt have been hit with them, he knew he was in with a one trick pony who could only punch and he still got caught cleanly and repeatedly. Khan is chinny as **** and thats very worrying, but even more worrying is that he was trained by a guy who claimed to be working on khans defense, and then he gets torn apart by a complete unknown who hit him with virtually every shot he threw

It is still possible for Khan to win a proper world title.

Personally I thought he would get KO'd last night but I was still suprised to see the Speed of the finish. Khan's legs even went completely stiff from a jab.

If Khan is serious he best move to a trainer like Roger Mayweather et al. who works on slipping punches and never getting caught clean. To win a title he has to be wonderfully managed and really steered clear of ****ers. that being said He won't ever beat Prescott IMO. The bloke is all wrong for him just like Mayorga for Forrest and Maussa for Harris. (Prescott actually reminded me a lot of Maussa)

I am not a Khan fan but he does have time on his side. The worrying thing is he has been badly hurt by two super featherweights (1 wasn't even a puncher) and then destroyed by a hard hitting but probably one dimensional Lightweight. this shows not only is his chin very suspect but he is getting caught CLEANLY far too often!

Unless this is addressed he can kiss his world title ambitions goodbye.

I think you may be right about using Roger Mayweather. Before every fight all Khan keeps saying is "I'm alot stronger now" and "I'm faster than I was in my last fight". We know he's strong and fast so why keep working on that when his defence is so bad.

His gameplan was all wrong last night. He knew two things for definite, Khan has a suspect chin and Prescott can punch, so why the **** did he run in and try to trade?? and after the first knock down he stood up far to early IMO. He should have stayed on a knee until 8 or 9 then got up

Completely agree with you about getting up too early. He did the same with Willie Limond just to drop back to a knee again and almost get counted out cos he couldn't trust his legs.

My other worry with Jorge Rubio as coach is heis professional experience is almost non existant and he PICKED Prescott as an opponent!! Why when it is obvious to everyone that Prescott is a nightmare match up for Khan?? These seen like real schoolboy errors. (I'm not tryng to blame Rubio for the loss though. Khan fought a ****** fight and paid a heavy price)

The thing is though, if they would have hand-fed Khan another bum we'd be complaining about that aswell.

I think Khan could have beat him, they just went about it the wrong way. He should have felt him out for the first few rounds then just keep getting in and out before he has a chance to get tagged and box his way to a decision.

True but moving from light punching Superfeather's to a very hard punching fighter who has fought at Light welterweight seems like a bit of a jump. even if Khan won with no drama he still would have got slated as no one had really heard of Prescott. Now Khan will fight Alex Arthur and have to go British then European route to gain the nessessary experience to allow him to progress.

Khan's game plan was all wrong but I don't think he can beat Prescott at the moment. Simply as sooner or later Prescott will land and when he does Khan goes down. . . . In the future I hope he can avenge this defeat but I wouldn't try to do that any time soon.

As regard to bum opponents, I would have liked to see Jon Thaxon or possibly John Muarry. The british public know and respect them and they wouldn't have posed as great a risk. (Well Muarry might).

Like people have said, they were big shots that he was hit with but that says a lot about his defensive skills, or lack of. Not really his fault though. Since turning pro he hasn't fought anyone with a big punch so he hasn't been allowed to develop any defense or style against big punchers. In all his other fights he has been allowed to do whatever he wants.
Yes Prescott is known for being a puncher but he is at the same experience level as Khan (minus the silver medal) so on paper it is not a bad match up. Maybe it was too big a step up too soon but at the rate Warren was taking him he would have been fighting pitty pat punchers his whole career, so we shouldn't complain.
