Are teens like this in the UK for boxing? Can they name other people outside Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe. If I were to say "Who is Paul Williams" would they be able to answer?

Second question, if Hatton-Khan were on PPV there would it do more buys then Pacquiao-Hatton? Or what would people be talking about more?

    Thanks in advance.
Boxing in the UK, like America has become a niche sport... If you got a random sample of 1,000 British teenagers, and asked them the question "Who is Paul Williams", I reckon it is likely none of them would know who Paul Williams is! Khan- Hatton would do better then Hatton- Pacquioa PPV, but one of the main factor's would be broadcasting time... Hatton- Pacquioa would be televised for American prime time, and would be broadcasted in the UK at around 3-4 AM... I've started to realize that the majority of the UK has a warped perception of how good Amir Khan is because of the way the media (Frank Warren and Sky the main culprits) portray him and express facts... For example, I watched the count down to Khan- Prescott and the 'boxing experts' claimed that this fight was a major risk for Khan, clearly speaking for money more then sense. One of the punters claimed that Prescott (19W, 17KOs) has a better record then Khan, which on paper, he does... But 9 of Prescott's opponent's has never won a fight! Prescott is not ranked in the top 100 of the lightweight devision by any major boxing organization and his only fight outside of Columbia resulted in a split decision.... YET I am sure many Brits will pay to watch this fight because they are convinced the opponent is world class!

        That columbian bumb merked Khan.

That being said, kids in the UK don't really know boxing. Only fighters they would know are Khan and Hatton well currently fighting. Obviously they would know people like Ali, Tyson and Lenox.

They would not know people like Fraiser, Sugar Ray, Hearns, Hagglers. Recent fighters they wouldn't know would be any of the recents fighters I didn't mention in the above paragraph.

Thanks for the answers. Looks like Khan-Hatton is a no go anyway

I am a 16 year old Brit, and I know a huge amount about boxing. (By the way Paul Williams is the guy who knocked Carlos Quintana in their rematch.) My friends know a fair amount about British boxing, and we watch a few fights together, but none of them had heard of De La Hoya or Pacquiao when I told them about their upcoming fight. British kids know huge amounts about football (soccer) but absolutely nothing about boxing. Apart from me, I know both.

Most kids do not know **** but those who box would have heard of Pacman. Everyone heard of Khan down the pub coz he was in paper where they said he would be next Floyd! Of course they all believed the hype. Idiots.
