Wayne McCullough's return to the ring after 2½ years was scrapped after his opponent failed to make the weight.
The Belfast 37-year-old was due to meet European super-bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez in a non-title contest in his home town tonight but the Spaniard could not meet the 8st 12lb limit.
After Kiko was weighed he was told he had two hours to make the weight, Martinez sat on a chair sipped water and waited to be re-weighed. Needless to say he didn't make the weight the second time around.
Martinez seems to be a good fighter, he has an impressive amateur and professional record (no losses) and his first round dismantling of Bernard Dunne seemed to highlight his ability.
Wayne although having a fairly decent professional record but after a long lay off, would at first glance pose no real threat to Martinez.
So why did Kiko deliberately not make weight for this fight? Opinions?
