    Good fighter is Darren Barker.

He also regularly spars with Carl " The Cobra " Froch.
I would like to know how he compares the 2. Iv heard before that Barker has has some severe beatings in training from Froch.

Barker had to quit his sparring with Kessler after three rounds, thursday morning, and go home to England, due to the beating he was taking.

Apparently they were supposed to have gone 6 rnds thursday and then another session saturday. But Barker had to stop after 3 rnds thursday and go home.
Probably a wise choice with Barker having an upcomming fight in about a week.

I hope they can find some southpaws who can withstand the workrate, for his last 4 weeks of sparring.
Sounds like Peter Haymer got a pretty good beating too.

ah right, you must have seen it. how did they look?

barker seems to think otherwise from his interview...
“It has been great experience sparring with Kessler and I’m more than holding my own,” said Barker, who is short-listed for the Boxing Writers’ Young Boxer of the Year award.

did he really only go three rounds with kessler? he didn't look very beat-up when he fought last night.

If he was "more than holding his own," then basically that means he was getting the better of Kessler right? No reason to quit after three of the six rounds they were gonna go on the second day then? He was also scheduled to spar with him at least one more day, but he went home instead. Oh how a few days rest at home can play tricks on a guys memory...

He did hold his own okay the first day they sparred, maybe that's when he was interviewed? Then Kessler turned up the heat the second day, and Barker had to quit after three rounds, because of damage he was taking, specifically an emerging cut over his eye. He also complained of a sore nose and body.

i thought you meant he only did 3 rounds sparring in total!

but thats fair enough. kessler is in training for a world unification title match, and the most important fight of the year - and barker is still a relative novice coming back after 9 months inactivity.

i'd be worried for kessler if he hadn't roughed up barker, who btw i think could be one of the next generation of british smw's to achieve something
