Fighting Froch right now would prove who is the best British smw, nothing else.

The fact of the matter is that Taylor, Wright, Kessler, and Hopkins (though some would consider him past his best, especially if Calzaghe were to beat him) are considered the best in the business at the moment, therefore, Calzaghe has to be looking to fight one of these guys. I do believe that Froch would test Calzaghe, but he hasn't been in with close to the same calibre of fighter that Clazaghe has fought.
Froch should stake his claims further by having one or two more fights with a good level of opponent and then people will take him that bit more seriously.
That said, i would have thought that Froch would have proved a better opponent for Calzaghe than Manfredo was but we all know why that fight was made.

the guys his size suck though, and light heavy weight sucks too. The only person in his weight class that has made a name for himself is Kessler.

Personally i'd prefer to see Calzaghe put paid to the hype about Kessler, but fights with Taylor and Wright are still creditable despite those two being Middleweights.
