  • If Ali fought during those 3 1/2 years....

who do you think he would've fought and do you think he would've remained undefeated? but the big question is, if he fought Joe Frazier during those 3 1/2 years do you think he would've won?

I think he would of faced Frazier earlier than he did, and he would of beaten Frazier. This would of been Ali's prime if he fought during those barren years, so I don't see Frazier beating Ali.

I think he would of got beaten in the end, because he would of still stayed on longer than he should.

No one could have stopped him if he fought on during those 3.5 years.

You've got that right. He would have still had his footwork, and his punches were developing, gradually getting harder.

He would also have acquired more experience during these few years, that is always invaluable.

Damn, just think what could have been

It would've been great to see Ali in those 3 1/2 years. We would've gotten to see even more great fights. Seeing Ali take on Frazier then would've been a war, but I agree with you guys he would've won.

What made Ali, "ALI" was that he became "Human": when he beat Liston it was surprising, but I think people tended to resent that he was so good and he bragged before the fight he would win, and win by KO.

When he came back, his legs weren't there, his speed wasn't quite the same, and his reflexes were slightly slower. What did this cause? It caused exciting fights, like Frazier, Norton, Foreman, etc.
Fighters were now able to find him and Ali had to think of new ways to win...we also learned that Ali could take incredible amounts of punishment, which would lead to a very sad result later in life...he faced some of the hardest punchers in history, Liston, Frazier, Foreman, and Shavers, and none of them could Knock him out...it wasn't until he was seemingly suffering from Parkinson syndrome, had taken diet pills to lose weight, and way past his prime, that he finally lossed by TKO, which he was still standing.

he would have fought bonavena in may of 1967, and he would have fought frazier, quarry, ellis, foster and others he fought after the layoff in between that time.
