  • Wladimir Klitschko's Best Wins

I thought it'd be fun to do a fresher one.

Before I get into names I want to point out Wlad was pretty good about taking 0's. His era is one of the first to have an over saturation of unbeaten and untested fighters and though Wlad has many brags I don't hardly hear this one mentioned. I think he's somewhere around 12 or 13 unbeaten fighters he handed the first loss to. I always appreciated that. The current champions are in the single digits. The past guys have surprisingly few unless you count debuts because there just wasn't many unbeaten fighters in past eras. Wlad's had plenty and Wlad was the cure for a time.

That said, let's get into it:

Byrd - Very good HW of the era and a x2 champion. After his loss to Wlad Byrd proved he was still a great HW of his era..until Wlad did it again - WBO/IBF

Ibragimov - Another great HW of the era, dude was on a tear when he faced Wlad. - WBO

Chageav - Another very good HW. I like the names on Ibragimov's resume a bit more though. x3 WBA

Jennings - Wlad was showing signs of being past his best, and Jennings was thought to be a dangerously good boxer at the time. Unbeaten and ready to take Wlad off his thrown Jennings found the old champion die hard. I think timing wise it's one of his best wins.

Haye - Haye's HW resume is lacking for sure, but he does have some wins and his CW resume is without question. For a time Haye was Wlad's only logical threat. Wlad showed the world the distance between himself and David at HW is far greater than they had assumed. WBA

Mercer - Solid HW and former champion, a solid win for Wlad at the time - WBO

Peter - A solid, dangerous, unbeaten fighter and would go on to be a champion in the WBC

Brewster - A solid HW and former champion, great revenge fight, all around a good win. WBO

Thompson - A solid conteder who never quite had the goods to be champion but could give plenty a hard night.

Rahman - A bit past it but still a good HW and former champion.

Povetkin - Mostly played clean up, ducked Wlad for about a decade then fought Wlad's leftovers after Wlad to maintain rank and send them out. Not a bad fighter in his own right but his inability to step up at the right time makes him an easy win for Wlad. All Klitschko had to do was hug him and cuddle him to sleep. WBA

Pulev - decent contender then and now, Pulev's never shown greatness but he is serviceable and he is willing. Maybe he can beat Joshua. Performance wise this may be Wlad at his very best.

Chambers - Decent contender of the era who never was quite good enough to be champion.

Shultz - A sad case of a maybe champion who never got his break, by the time Wlad fought him for regional titles he was a bit past it but still a very good win.

Botha - Solid journeyman of the HWs for quite a long time.

Barrett - A solid contender for years and years to follow, like Shultz a close to champion figure who was a bit aged.

Austin - decent contender of the era, thought to be dangerous when Wlad fought him

Wach - Hypejob exposed by Klitschko, Wach proved he has chin though

Brock - a hypejob exposed by Klistchko.

Pianeta - Hypejob exposed by Wlad

Bostice - At the time thought to be a dangerous HW, Wlad proved otherwise.

Dude had a long career and fought many good fights. This one might have been my hardest and I did use Boxrec to remember all those damn names. and who won what. I'm sure I ****ed up anyway though.

Chagaev was a good win. At the time of the fight I thought he was the next best guy outside the brothers. Short notice tho so not sure if that takes abit of the edge off

Wlad was a fine champion for a decade. The fact that fighters like Pulev and Povetkin ( both 40 or very near the mark ) are still around today in the top ten shows the lack of depth among fighters in their prime.

I would say Povetkin, Byrd, Ibragimov, Chagaev and Peter were his best wins

Chagaev and Povetkin. The latter even in hostile territory in Moscow.

            Honorable mention to Haye.

I believe Byrd is his best win.

Wladimirs best win is against Samuel Peter. Before Sam Peter got beat by Wladimir he was the most feared and dangerous opponent at the time.
