  • A bad day for the sanctioning bodies.

    Lopez defeating Loma . . .

it was one thing for Loma to hold multiple belts with only 15 professional fights, one could point to his amazing amateur record, 300 plus wins, two gold medals, Etc. . . .

but it's another for Teofimo Lopez; he has none of that behind him, yet here he is with only 16 fights he holds four belts; traditionally speaking he shouldn't even have gotten a title shot . . .

how now are we suppose to look at multiple belt holders from the past few decades . . .

he gained too much too fast; it is possible that the sanctioning bodies may have multiplied themselves into irrelevancy . . .

and what if he should choose to move up and not defend those belts ? the sanctioning bodies (IMO) are going to look quite silly . . .

I hope Lopez just walks away from all four belts and we can return to a time when the fight is the draw, and not the title/belts at stake. TV will certainly not like it, but we may get better match-ups.

Teofimo Lopez is in position to shake-up the entire game . . . he is in a position to say, 'come watch me fight, I fight only the best, the belts (sanctioning bodies) aren't important anymore.'

    - -Seems a bit cryptic there, Pep.

If we could only return to the golden halcyon days of yore fraught with their own problems glossed over by time sorta nonstarter.

The kid qualified for 2016 Olympics with a purt fair AMA record decides pursue $$$ is not a flaw.

The belts are bragging rights, but won't help him in his next fight. Let him breathe.

You're acting as if very young fighters or fighters with few belts havent held undisputed titles before. Patterson just 21 when he held the undisputed heavyweight crown, Ali just 22, Tyson unified at 21, Benitez world champ at 17....

I mean sanctioning bodies are ridiculous but this doesnt change much.

I seen this video on YT, if I find it again i'll post it.

When Salvador Sanchez beat Juan Laporte, Sanchez was given two belts. The WBC of course, and, Rocky Lockridge's USBA.

Made it look like Sanchez had the WBC and WBA.

Rocky wasn't stripped, Sanchez wasn't called the USBA champion, and Laporte would go on to beat Rocky a year later for the USBA.

Interesting, I didn't realize the ****ery went back that far.

Can anyone confirm or deny if that red belt Sanchez holds up while the green is strapped to his waist was USBA? Could it have been a lineal like George Foreman/ Shannon Briggs lineal physical belt?

                - -Benitez wasn't unified and neither did it take the WBA long to strip Ali, so he was flashed unified until he beat Terrell.

Young Teo vastly better than Neon Leon. That was an embarrassment.

I don't know, I think dude took it down.

He was *****ing about Teo actually, he just pointed out it happened when he was young and showed a clip. Way before my time.

I can't even find the clip dude showed. Might have to get the full fight and cut it myself.

He has a doc coming for Sanchez so guess I'll wait on that if no old'en here tells me wtf happened.

                  Dude's Promo:
