- -Chopped down my first tree with my brand new dull as a tableknife Boy Scout Hand Axe.

A dead, wild plum tree about 4" in diameter proved to be a rugged customer with extra, hard, dried out wood. After what "wood" be a 10 rd draw in boxing terms, my ol' Popeye laid his right hand on it and shoved it down with a mighty crack.

Learned a lot about myself, that ****** hand axe, and my Popeye.

Chopping wood great hardening up conditioning, but also dangerous with chopped off toes and mangled feet and legs. Made bukos publicity for Ali "going to the mountain top."

I had this happen last week. Took my 11 year old camping, and bought a little hatchet. He was working on a little tree, about the same size. I came along and pushed the thing over, snapping the trunk. His look of astonishment was priceless.
