    Rocky Marciano vs Ray Leonard

Don't laugh. Rocky has to hit someone before he can KO them. We know Leonard's strategy to a T. He will fight like Tunney on steroids. That strategy wins unless Rocky can enact an effective offense. Leonard will run faster than anyone he ever fought, knowing full well he cannot afford to be caught solid even once. At the same time he will enjoy the speed disparity to pepper the rock with jabs.

One thing Rock never had to do was actually chase his man down. Pursue, yes, but Rock pursued in a measured way. In a 20 ft. ring Rock will have all kinds of trouble finding Leonard who will never stop moving. Ray will want to play the same strategy he did in Duran II. It is not crazy to think he might be able to accomplish this.

For one thing Rock was completely greedy. But if Leonard were free to negotiate with him in the later style he would probably nearly negotiate Rock out of the title before the fight itself the way he almost did Hagler. Rock would find himself in a pillow fight in a 24 ft. ring that resembled a parking lot. That is definitely a fight Ray could win. He might win one under normal rules and conditions of either man's era as well.

A fight to the finish, of course, he could never win against the Rock. But 15 rds.,...hmmm?

    - -Not even the real Sugar Ray wanted to mess with Rock in spite of a few offers.

Sweet that your Sugarless Ray floats your petticoats in your elder years.

A young SRL in a big ring would have a decent chance to jab and dance. If, of course Ray didn't try to hurt the Rock only to touch him with his jab and not get touched back [KOed]

Hell, they awarded Floyd for running, so get those judges for this hypothetical.

Range is an important factor they have to touch each other at some point does rock have a similar range, if so he can counter him and KO him

Now, by buggery, the real Sugar would have nearly zero chance against the Rock. The real Sugar was a mediocre ring general who did not know how to plain run. If he had simply run he would have defeated Maxim easily. Instead he got in there and started slugging like a wild man with the temperature over 100 degrees in the stadium.

Leonard had no such weaknesses in his ring generalship. Leonard was flat out probably the greatest ring general boxing has seen. He practically neutralized Duran in their rematch, and Duran was a much better boxer than Rocky.

I do not believe Rocky has the chops to catch up with Leonard. He just does not have the footwork to do it.

Leonard has zero chance of beating rocky. He was a welter who in later career had a couple of fights around middle and super. Rocky was the world heavy champion and a great one. Hed break leonard up just hitting his arms and body.

                  - -Duran bowels filled with 2 full steak dinners and a gallon of OJ not to mention the two large g****fruit eaten seeds, rind, and all is what did Duran in for #2 has been documented.

And yeah, Duran was also a better boxer than sugarless

By now it is well known that the only thing wrong with Duran during Leonard II was he needed to shìt worthy of a mountain ogre. And, yes, that would be from too much chowder.
