The fighter's cornermen have to drag the guy back up because it looks so bad. In this case, he sat down with a throng of pushing and shoving idiots climbing into the ring. He got up easily before a count of ten. He was fine.

When George left the ring (walking out tired but not exhausted) Ali was waving his hands and playing to the crowd. When Ali left the ring maybe three to five minutes after George, he had his hand raised, encouraging applause and cheers. The cameras followed him to the dressing room, as Muhammad hugged Dr. Ferdie Pacheco and checked all the other well-wishers nearby. With the microphone on him, he sat and calmly said to David Frost, "I kept tellin' you he has no power, I kept tellin' you he has no power...I kept talkin' to him, too..."

And then: "I proved Allah is God, Elijah Muhammad is a messenger...I made it an easy night because Allah has power of ALL things...it wasn't a close fight was it?" And very sternly: "Attention...I told you all that I was the greatest of all time...I'm still the Greatest of All Time...I didn't dance for a reason. I wanted to make him lose all his power. I kept telling him he had no punch, he couldn't hit, he was swingin' like a sissy...you can't say I was tired...what happened, I didn't dance from the second round on...he was fallin' he was missin'...

"I don't know if I'm gonna fight again or not...thanks to all mighty God Allah...Read the Muhammad Speaks newspaper, go to your local ****** temple and learn more about the life-giving power from Allah...you saw all the white people, the critics, the world, had me ranked to go down...Allah was with me and this man looked like nothing! Remember that..."

So, yes, Muhammad was quite lively after the fight.

How many remember that dressing room scene when they think about this fight? Almost nobody. It was one of Ali's most surprising bits of proselytizing for his religion. Whether he was up for a rematch or any fight...who knows what that was about. He could've been thinking of becoming a ****** minister or something, having regained the championship and his credibility. He was a surprising guy and rarely predictable.
    - -I've never seen the post fight footage you talk of, but most assuredly in 1974 men were still men and not collapsable bawling sissies. Ali was taken to the brink. He literally created a hole in the crowd who had been hoisting him 6' in the air.

Ali spouting off Allah ain't some new revelation. Ring released an anniversary edition of the postfight 74 edition that supports everything I've said as does the Playboy interview.

Of course yes Ali took some punishment on the ropes, but he was fighting a great defensive fight also 'Which does not really get commended at times'.

The strange about the fight was? It was clear after the first round that Ali had the speed, of foot and hand to out box George Foreman 'But even still he chose to go to the ropes'.

The reason why Foreman slipped into depression was because he was beaten up, and demoralized.
      - -Ain't good defense to get beatup...Duh!

We saw the after affects when Wepner beat him up for 13 rds, a club fighter George demolished as a raw novice.

Zach Clayton gave George a 9 sec count to wave him off after rising, oh, and zach scored it 68-66, a close fight, so time to study up or I'm gonna give you Rustys dunce cap.

It is a myth that George Foreman was beating Muhammad Ali up, it is also irrelevant on how Zach Clayton scored the fight.

I can remember watching the 'When We Where kings' documentary as a kid. And my perception from viewing that documentary was that Muhammad Ali was basically beaten up for the large majority of the fight. 'It was not until I watched the entire fight, did I realize that the notion that Ali was being beat up by Foreman was a complete myth'.

The fight was a technical master class, on how to fight off the ropes from Muhammad Ali.

Note: Muhammad Ali was a notorious lazy trainer, and anybody who knows anything about is career, will understand that he trained to the level of his opponents or the perceived threat 'He probably viewed Chuck Wepner as a easy fight'. During the 70's even though Muhammad Ali cemented his greatness, people need to remember that he was different fighter in terms of his attitude to the sport. George Foreman struck some fear into him, which motivated him to train etc

Muhammad Ali's extreme self confidence was his strength, but it could also back fire upon him. 'Even Larry Homes stated that he could of trained harder for George Foreman'.

Just as well as Ali team forbade that fight because of the permanent damage George did to Ali.
You are a complete Idiot who constantly rewrites history he stayed out of the gym for almost a year ballooned up in weight .He went into depression and refused interviews .It was a resounding victory for Ali with no controversy and the public was wanting the Ali Frazier third fight.

            - -Ferdie and Herbert wouldn't allow the rematch with George anymore than they would allow Ali to fight Wilt.

Ali weren't his own man then, and good thing! We saw the damage Ali took that reduced him to a shaking shell. He needed protection after George.

Sounds like someone amped up on adrenaline, or high on amphetamines.

I've spent most my life on or next to a wrestling mat. I can tell you from first hand experience, a well-conditioned and focused person can easily power through much more damage than Ali did, and remain manic for a very long time. Adrenaline will do amazing things to the body. It's like those stories you hear about women who flip over minivans to save kids.

How you feel when you wake up the next morning... that's another thing.

He's here strictly for attention. But I'd say he's tremendously successful attracting it.

Funny how it didn't work against Spinks.

Funny how you never see good fighters try that in lower weight divisions.

Can you imagine Fury reducing himself to that ridiculousness?

Why are you talking to me?

Tyson Fury is not a all-time great, so I really don't think you should be mentioning him in the same context as Muhammad Ali.

I cannot imagine Fury beating up or knocking out ANY elite or potentially all-time great fighters 'That is what Muhammad Ali did up against Foreman with his ridiculousness'.

                      - -So he went out to secure more brain damage to stink up the ring against a club fighter, Wepner whom George KOed years before?

                      BRILLIANT!!!
