Not sure how many fighters during Dempsey’s era would have beaten him at 175. Not many.
      Well said.

A lot of Jones' short-comings go unnoticed because the majority of the footage his die-hards have seen comes from high-light reels. Actually watching the entirety of his career, start to finish, he's far more mundane.

Sent back to Dempsey's era he'd present a lot of challenges. But that's different than coming of age in Dempsey's era. He would have been another unknown.
Looking at him on film, though, I just don't see how he beats the likes of Loughran & Tunney. But more likely he'd be fighting at Heavyweight. There the disparity in skill would favor Jones, but I wouldn't be expecting many of those wins to come by KO.

Maybe try responding to me in English? It's the only language I speak.

My grandmom taught me cursewords in Slovak, though.

No. ALi's granny was taking different "shots" from White men. Ones that left invigorated, rather than paralyzed.

But yeah, pre-****in-up-with-the-po'lice Cleveland Williams definitely does better than the statistic did.

That’s what a lot of fans don't know or understand. Williams was a far better fighter than given credit for before he was shot and almost killed. The prime version of Williams that Liston beat 2x was a much different (better) fighter than the shot Williams Ali beat.

I would choose, Dempsey, Tunney, Sharkey, Loughran from 175 and up, and possibly Greb, Flowers and Langford below 175.

                - -Seen most every Roy fight in entirety and the man was the epitome of sublime and he's one of the few who did it his way.

Easy for a rusty bucket to pick on in his decline, he never dishonored the sport like your candy keister does.

All agree he should've retired after the first Tarver fight, but he didn't, and so now you got yer grade school spit wads to sling.

Here's how it is. The real hotdogging fast twitch fiber boys have a psychological pattern often followed. There is a psychological phenomenon referred to among professionals as duping delight.

Mayweather loved to dupe fans as well that he was going to pour on the pressure and knock his next man out time for sure. But he never did do this. He always fought the same cautious fight, always winning with minimum action. He immensely enjoyed duping the fans over and over by giving them repeated sleep fests. When the next gate was huge despite his last fight being a bore, this got MW's nuts off. I could see that. He felt empowered because fans would tune in for his fights even knowing they were likely to be another bore. To his reasoning, this made him doubly great.

Jones himself took great duping delight, until he was tossed from his pedestal.
