Quarry was a real fighter, always good to watch. I just watched him whip Lyle last night. Jerry is one of the prime reasons his era was the most complete and toughest in history, by Moslem..

Jer became a much better fighter after his 68 heavy tourney where he seemed not to have shown up when it counted.
I believe he was the only name fighter willing to fight Ali when he started his comeback. Them was tough times, not only in boxing but America.

This.
Queenie, was clearly baiting me based on comments I have made in recent threas. And I would have fallen for the trap laid here. Thank you for the insights.
Maybe Foreman was throwing Quarry a bone, but you have shown that he probably elected to play it safe. Not exactly the same as dodging Quarry, necessarily. But clearly not a pure fabrication.

I am a huge quarry fan. But even I admit that he was: too small for the division; lacked the one-shot power needed to beat the monsters of the day; cut easily; was prone to employing exactly the wrong game plan.
If the Cruiserweight division had existed then, he might have gone down as one of Boxing's finest ever champions. But against as prime an example of a Heavyweight as George Foreman in the early 70's, I dunno what he does to pull out the win.

BoxRec summarizing Jerry Quarry’s career starts with “Jerry Quarry, once described as the greatest fighter never to have won a title” …
I won’t argue. Watching his fights, I find a somewhat limited boxer, compensated by a toughness and a fighting heart far out of the ordinary.
However, knowing about his post-career life has left a sour taste in the mouth, with him and his boxing brothers hospitalized due to dementia.
In a TV-documentary of the bros, Jerry got the question: “Do you remember in which sport you were successful?” and he answered:
“Yes! Baseball!”

Unlike that neutered luvfest, all are welcome to join in here.
For whatever the reason, George rated quarry very high, #2 behind Louis back in the day, but be clear!
Their timelines don't mesh for any credibility of George ducking Quarry in any fight of merit.
And NO, George says he never sparred Quqrry contrary to the Offal that pollute boxing forums.
Make your case in their timelines when the up and coming George shoulda faught Jerry.
This link is where Quarry mentions "Working in the gym" with George and he I believe alludes one or two ore times to sparring Foreman:

This is the Dino Dennis fight where the co-commentator speciically says "...Youve sparred with both men, is Foreman..."
