Is there anyone in history that could out jab Larry Holmes?

Was he the best jabber of all time that would beat anyone else in a jab only special rules boxing match?

Alsowas he doing anything different to enhance his jab? Is that likea backfist technique that endsup with the structure of a stiff jab orisit just flicky likeali's or just stiff like a normal jab?

Ali had that great lateral movement along with that lightning cutting jab. Prime Ali outjabs Holmes all night long at angles. Holmes jab may have been harder but Ali’s jab the faster and greater weapon.

Ike Quartey will out jab him, by God. Then Ali, of course. And Holmes's jab would never touch Tunney, whose jab would touch Holmes. Hold on a few posts and we will see what the mighty Queensbree has to say about Fat Lar's jab.

Larry had a great jab but Ali had more tools to use with that jab that made it that much more effective. Holmes also was always open for right hands as he dropped his jab every time he threw it.

I remember Holmes having all kinds of problems with Norton's jab.

It's a matter of opinion, but I believe so.
I also remembering he saying: the first jab you throw, make it a helluva hard one because the opponent will think "if that just was a jab, what's coming next?"

I wrote it before: he injured his right hand in a fight in 1976, and could only practise his left hand for about nine months. That's how his monster jab developed.

A jab severely underrated, in my opinion, is that of Wlad Klitschko. It won him several fights.

No, there was never a heavyweight who could outjab Holmes.

Ali had the greatest jab in hwt boxing history. It’s not close. In his prime his jab was so quick it was very difficult to slip and it cut opponents to ribbons. Unlike Holmes Ali was very difficult to hit with a counter right over his jab. Holmes was there all night open for right counters.

Googled around a bit, and found this bleacherreport from 2011.

Most astonishing, Tyson is placed 5th.

Since the very beginning of boxing, trainers have always suggested and reminded their fighters of the significance of the jab...

And I do like, he dared to place Wlad as #2.
