Probably that Patterson has any chance lasting 15 rounds with prime Louis. Louis was one of hwt boxings all time hard punchers.

Williams lasting 8-9 rounds with Louis. Max Baer had a much tougher chin than Williams and lasted 4. Louis would not have a hard time finding Williams and once he does, it's the beginning of the end for him.

As for Patterson lasting the distance, it would require that Louis would never find his chin.... which he would. Couple that with Louis being an excellent finisher and this could potentially be a blowout. Patterson may do well for a little bit, but sooner or later, Louis will catch him with something big and then it will be curtains. And I think highly of Patterson. Even think he'd be capable of beating some more modern day heavies.

But he ain't taking a prime Louis the distance.

Ben you must not have read my earlier post saying how great Louis was.
With that said in my humble opinion if Cleveland got out of the first 2 rounds in which he struggled against a few I think he’d make it a fight for awhile because of his reach size and excellent punching power. He was better than most of Joe’s opponents. As for Patterson , he had a long amateur career and was a much better and Dangerous fight than the “ Slickster Machen. By the way Williams & the Slickster fought to a Hard faught 10 round draw, Just Saying

None of the above can beat Louis! People here have no clue about the skills and techniques that Louis had.
The greatest combination puncher the heavyweight division ever had to this day.

--- Me'n Ray have a lotta common ground here for a change.

Early to midrange KOs for the lot save for Machen lasting late much like slick Billy Conn and Cleve landing a big left hook early, those early rds when Louis was most vulnerable.

                These are fantasy fights btw.

Once again someone did not read my statements made on how great Joe Louis was. All I was stating was Cleveland Williams in my humble opinion might hang around 8-9 rounds because of his size and reach & if he was not blasted out early in the bout he could hang around 8-9 rounds . He was a puncher Ray.
I understand your the Don Corleone of the forum but being a local guy I’ve seen a few fights myself

And by the way Ray I had a uncle that used to hang around the training facilities up in Pompton Lakes where all The Who’s who back in the day worked out. I herd all the great gym stories, some real classics

Louis has the best highlight reel of any heavyweight champion.
