Which quotation? The one where he says Wills got gypped? You're literally the only one here talking about that quote. I couldn't care less if it's in the book because it very well may be.
The only quote I'm calling out for being blatantly false is the one where they claim Dempsey said he wouldn't fight Wills because he was black. Jesus man, you're so far behind that you're actually going backwards in time.Comment

Joe Jeannette was already on the card at the time, so he wasn't in a position to step in at that time.
But here is the funny part....
After Jeannette's opponent was a no-show and he accepted the fight, Dempsey refused, saying he won't fight any colored boxer! Then he said he would fight ANY TWO WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS. He would rather fight 2 boxers than Jeannette!
Problem is....TWO WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS ACCEPTED....AND DEMPSEY DECLINED AGAIN
4 Days before the event: I'll fight anyone.
Day of the event: I only want to fight Joe Bonds.
Oh, we understand, Dempsey. You've prepared a whopping 4 days for your 6 round fight with Joe Bonds. Got it!
It was for a war charity, for crying out loud! Won't go 6 rounds with Jeannette for a good cause?????

He signed at least twice to fight Wills and gave up three of his prime years exclusively to fight wills, irrefutable.

DID A COURT OF LAW FIND THAT DEMPSEY BROKE A VALID CONTRACT TO FIGHT WILLS. YES OR NO????

We are unable to conceive upon what theory the defendant could contend that there was no contract, as it appears to be admitted in the proceeding here and bears his signature and the amounts involved are sufficiently large to have created a rather lasting impression on the mind of anyone signing such an agreement

And for the record, I'm not the one who rekindled this conversation. Mojo sent me a message out of nowhere. I'm only responding with facts. Never have I said Dempsey wasn't a great. Never have I even said these guys won't have definitively beat him. The fights are fought to show that. But you guys can't handle the facts! And if you want to throw mud, I'm definitely willing to get dirty as well, my friend. Go back and look at the history of who threw around the insults first. Then you'll see what's up.
