  • Young vs Ibeabuchi

Well, folks, this one looks like the championship finals for the Greatest Heavyweight Never A Champion tournament.

Ike treated Chris Byrd, another master boxer, quite roughly. Can he do the same to Young, or will Young cauliflower the president's ears?

It's not even close, Jimmy Young embarrass Ike. It's a real professional defeating a one hit wonder. Lets be honest ok, Ibeabuchi had 1 1/2 good wins. The Byrd win was great, but like I stated in the past, the Tua win was a flip of the coin. I think Tua won actually. I saw Ike live twice, I've seen maybe his Second best win vs Marion Wilson in Asbury Park, than I saw him versus Everton Davis at Trumps Taj Majhal in Atlantic City. I've been there to see him fight, he's a 15-20 ranked fighter in the Jimmy Young era, in which quite frankly is the best Era in Heavyweight History. And that's that!

The 1975/6 version of Young beats Ike. Jimmy defeated hard hitting Ron Lyle 2x, took Shavers best punches to a draw and in my opinion did enough to beat Ali. That version of Jimmy beats Ike. By 1977 his career was taking a downward turn even though he sc****d out a win versus Foreman. So yeah, if he could take big punches from Shavers, Lyle and Foreman, I'd say he can take whatever Ike was dishing out.

Maybe Ike gets a few rounds early, but Young dominates him to a clear decision.

Young is well on his way to being voted by this forum as the greatest heavyweight in history never to win a world title. Is he really the one? He would probably beat Cooney too.

He wouldn't beat Dokes or Page.
