I believe the NBA came into existence when it sanctioned the Dempsey-Carpentier fight; an act I believe Tex Rickard deliberately paid little to no attention to; it did work at times as a foil to the NYSAC.

The NBA tried to insert itself into the Dempsey-Wills dispute but got brushed off by Kearns and Rickard.

I agree by the 1960s neither Frazier (as NYSAC Champion) nor Elis as WBA Champion was going to be able to claim the title without a face off. I think crowning Frazier was the NYSAC's swan song. After that they went unnoticed.

That was the first fight it sanctioned but the organisation was established several months earlier. US state athletic commissions were set up to regulate boxing and the NBA was simply 17 of them coming together in unision to establish the same rules and regulations. New York and Massachussetts did not join. I think NYSAC simply tended to align with the WBC after its establishment.

The man we're looking for was only ranked in the year-end Top-10 a single year: 1925.

I never knew that Bob Fitzsimmons had a son that boxed nevermind ranked by The Ring.

You got 4 out of the 5 questions - good job!

As for young Bob... I think, that even among hardcore fans, it isn't common knowledge, that Bob Sr. had a son that boxed. For some reason, this is very seldom mentioned or talked about.
