    How good was Vinny Pazienza?

I just saw "Bleed for This" and was fairly entertained.

Roberto Duran was obviously past his best when Vinny beat him. But surely the Pazmanian Devil must have possessed some talent to be able to overcome Duran's deep bag of veteran boxing tricks. Especially coming off a broken neck.

How good of a fighter was he?

Vinny was a good but not great fighter. Entertaining as hell though. If he was fighting on TV I'd practically always tune in and if I couldn't tune in I'd run the VCR. Paz usually made for a fun night.

It’s my opinion ( not proven by any means) that Paz was doped to the max with epo after his accident which helped him against Duran.

Anyways he was a pretty solid fighter. His battles with Greg Haugen (who’s underrated) are classics and is what I remember him for.

Solid world champion, not much more than that. So pretty high standard. He was certainly doping like crazy during his super-middleweight run. Fun fighter for sure.

I think Paz was the first boxer tracked by CompuBox that didn't land a single punch in a full round. I think it was round 4 against Roy Jones.

Ill always remember when he knocked out Rosenblath and kept punching after the stoppage and nearly KO'd the ref.

There were some big names hanging around near his weight class in those days.

Pazienza was tough, durable and entertaining. He got a gift in his first meeting with Duran. Joe Cortez ruled a second round knockdown as a slip and all three judges scored round five 10-10 even though Duran scored a legit knockdown that should have been another 10-8 round.
