  • Denny Moyer

Not sure how many of you know or, or remember, Denny Moyer. This guy was a skilled boxer, great chin and tough as nails. He would fight anyone you put in front of him. He fought a list of great/all time great fighters. He defeated an aged Sugar Ray Robinson, Emile Griffin and Benny Paret. He fought Nino Benvenuti, Luis Rodriguez, Carlos Monzon and Vito Antuofermo.

I just scoped this video of him. Maybe you guys will enjoy as much as I have.

Good fighter but what's interesting about his fights with Sugar Ray Robinson is that Ray claimed he was drugged in the 2nd fight. There's a few books about him but his autobiography is so good any hardcore/true fan of boxing needs to read it!

"After The Last Round" is an excellent film, where, among other things, the tragic end of the Moyer brothers, Denny and Phil, is documented.

For those who haven't already seen it, I can highly recommend it.

Thanks for that, I hasn't noticed that on youtube before. Any documentary that starts with an O.V Wright song is always going to get the thumbs up for me.

Good scrappy fighter. There were a lot of under appreciated fighter's from that era that we don't hear enough about. Billy Graham, Tony DeMarco, Joey Archer, Henry Hank, and dozens of others who were better than their record would suggest.
