  • JG vs GGG

No , that's not Jerry Garcia. It was Joey Giardello who was a good enough boxer to shut down one toy monster in Rubin Hurricane Carter. Carter is to this day arguably the most "built" man in boxing history.

Giardello was right out of a tradition of slick dago boxers who couldn't break an egg, but they could box your ears off and frustrate you all night long.

I don't know if GGG hits any harder than Carter, and I don't know if GGG is much deeper than Carter.

Anyway, JG and GGG could be an interesting matchup, in that it might basically be a repeat of Joey's victory over Carter. The fight itself would not be exciting, other than to see if the fawn can escape the leopard.

GGG definitely hits harder than Carter did. It's tough to tell just yet about GGG. I'm a big fan of the guy but has he faced an opponent on Giardello's level just yet? The guy was a middleweight champion, had over a hundred fights and would fight anybody. I think he was on a different caliber than the G-Man has taken on. I still don't think we have seen GGG's true potential. It could be surprising or disappointing or downright scary. When he really gets in with a top star, I'm interested to see how hard he presses for the KO. I'm betting it will be very hard.

Off the top of my head right now, I think he takes Giardello, but I'd like to see more first.
