    R.I.P. The Bull from Bosporus

Sad to here of the sudden death of former European Heavyweight Champion Sinan Samil Sam (The Bull from Bosporus)...

I first came across Samil Sam back in July 2002 while channel hopping, on my satelite receiver. Sam was fighting on the undercard of a show being held in Germany and aired on the DSF channel. Me being British, the channel was excellent for boxing fans with European & World Title Fights shown live`and for free. Samil Sam was impressive and left an impression on me that he may well progress into a contender in the future. Three months down the line i was lucky to catch Samil Sam again fighting on the DSF Channel, only this time he was fighting for the European Title against the current Champion Przemyslow Saleta. Samil Sam looked excellent as he hammered Saleta to a KO defeat in 7rds. My immediate thoughts were, "When can i watch this guy Sam again"... Well i did not have to wait long. Samil Sam being the European Champion defended his title against Britain's Danny Williams in early 2003 with their fight being shown Live` on SkySports in the UK. It was a great opportunity for me to have myself a "Wager" on "The Bull from Bosporus" at odds of 5/2 with Danny Williams being the bookmakers favourite at odds of 1/2... Samil Sam never let me down, he brutally hammered Williams, knocking him from pillar to post in a very one-sided KO victory in 6rds.

It was sad to read Samil Sam had passed away at the very young age of 41yrs 29/10/15 He was a very decent fighter. R.I.P. Sam
