Well well, here we go again. Good old Ray Corso was actually there watching Mike Tyson & Lennox Lewis tearing eachothers heads off as youngsters.. FFS, This guys stories get better by the day... He worked corner for Larry Holmes, Earnie Shavers, Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Ray Robinson, Jake LaMotta and was the bucket man in Jack Johnsons corner the night he won the title from Tommy Burns....Every fighter of the last 100yrs knows Ray Corso, every trainer, promotor, sports writer knows Ray Corso who is known in every boxing joint the world over.. Ray "Walter Mitty" Corso is the name ~ Trainer of Champions FFS.

I can honestly see 80's Mike beat any fighter in history any day of the week. He was scary. I like the fact that he was a prolific student of the game too, his early dedication was unmatched, before that b1tch wife of his and don king ruined it all.Comment

I was at Cus's gym a dozen times as far back as when Teddy was boxing for Cus. My kids boxed against Cus's indian kids for many years at the Holyoke Boys Club as the interm to move on through the Region One USA/ABF touney. The upper state New York area came to the Holyoke BS for many years and thats where I met Cus originally.
I attended the spar session from an invite from Sean Malone and an ex fighter who won't mention.
I already visited to see Mike work and watched him fight on Govenors Island in New York City.
Let me say this very clearly to sonnyboy, your getting far to personal with someone you don't know!
You've already been proven a liar here when you said you met Tyson at a dinner function and the guy wasn't even in the ****ing COUNTRY!
These kids like sonny and elroid and juggerazzhole have brought this forum down to a hang out place for kids. The adults are packing up and moving on because these kids are ****ing idiots!
I'll back up anything I state on this forum, and anyone who pregfers to met inperson to discuss anything I will ablidge them.
There are alot of knowledgeable people in boxing prior to the internet and only the "current fans" who prefer to degrade instead of learn "need" the internet to try to validate the things they don't personally know.

That's funny RAY,because you once told a story of how Cus kept Tyson away from Lewis as a pro,even though cus wasn't even alive in the early 90's and lewis didn't start his career until around 1990?
Oh and ray the way you describe the Lewis ,Tyson meeting of how each one fared were actually DIRECT quotes from KEVIN ROONEY...not you!

Of course im sure ray helped edit the book..
of which has some Tyson and lewis referances in it which is why I posted the link,it actually has a SOURCE which why it was published!

I imagine there was a lot of commraderie and a lot of competition between amateur coaches of the region. That's the way it was here. Coaches were always taking a boy up to spar a rival coach's prodigy.
Not many lucky enough to see two future heavyweight champions in the nursery. I would like to hear more of those memories.Comment

Not a wives tale. It was in the book "Blood Season" written by an
objective writer. There were a lot of witnesses to it. Lewis was
invited to the catskill boxing camp to spar with Tyson. D'amto picked
Lewis for two reasons. Lewis stand up style was perfect for Tyson and
because D'amto knew Lewis would one day be a guy that tyson would have
to fight as a pro. Tyson destroyed Lewis in less than one round. He
knocked Lewis through the ropes and Lewis refused to spar another round
with Tyson. Lewis would knock out the present version Tyson but Tyson
still has more potential than anyone in boxing. If Tyson gets back to
training in the peek a boo style D'amto trained him in and stops looking
for the one punch knockout than Tyson will again knock Lewis out in
round one. Tyson is so one dimensional now that many good boxers can
beat him. Just back him up and tyson is lost. But Tyson just has
remember what D'amto taught him, remember what made him great and tyson can once again be unbeatable.

Heres my point for my comment, the disussion was about what happened at the gym. I was there with my son and a fellow trainer and an ex fighter who assists my friend. My son was there to spar with some of Cus's kids who were boxing at the USA/ABF in surrounding weights from my son.
Cus had an amateur team that had Aderandack Indians and sparring with my son gave them the opportunity to work with a USA/ABF boxer with alot of experience thats why as was there. NOT to watch two other kids spar!!!!
When I went to Cus's it was usually for 2 days as this was and I heard about the third day from Sean Malone when he returned back to Conn.
It wasn't eventfull, it meant NOTHING to me at the time and still doesn't.
Only morons like you think it has some hidden meaning and would effect either of them some 6 or 7 years later.
I'm not here to "impress" you or anyone else, I couldn't give a damn about you in anyway.
