Are you patriotic towards your fav Boxers

I notice several posters on the forum are very patriotic towards their favourite boxers (mostly British)... i think of (British) our boxers to be inferior to USA/Mexican boxers at the highest level.

My tastes span the globe. It's just that most great fighters are in the Americas. I enjoy seeing Moslems, Mexicans, Mongols and Americans well beaten, for the most part. No, I am not patriotic about it, I enjoy seeing U.S. fighters get mangled too, if they are chumps.

It is always nice to see poorly trained fighters get what is coming to them, or anyone, for that matter. If humans were fighting animals, I would root for the animals.

I'm more regional than national. I'm always rooting for Michigan natives over guys from anywhere else.

..............."If humans were fighting animals, I would root for the animals".

Sorry to wake you but humans ARE animals, the worst kind!
They don't kill each other to sustain they do it for greed!

Amateur boxing has a patriotic theme once you qualify for international tourneys.
Then your part of a team!

Pro boxing is "promoted" to the lesser minds as a patriotic event, which its not. Ask any pro fighter worth a damn he fights for himself, family and backers

                  Ray.

Most of my favourite fighters are non-British but I will usually support a British fighter against a non-British fighter unless I really like the non-British fighter or if I just really dislike the British fighter. For example I was supporting Kessler against Froch both because I really like Kessler and because I really dislike Froch.

I think the nationalistic element really helps the popularity of boxing here in the UK whereas in the US it seems more regional which isn't being tapped into fully because of the move to casinos and the greater influence of tv money in this market. Also in the US it seems support is largely played out over ethnic lines which in my opinion is the biggest reason boxing isn't even bigger than it could be in the US because there are few talented non-Hispanic white US fighters anymore.
