Tommy Gunn had the better lefhook. It was faster and more sure of finding its target. It was also much prettier to watch. Tommy was more of a classic sweeping hooker than Cooney.

Gerry's power was decpetive and Tommy's was not. The Irishman hurt opponents with hooks that didn't seem that devastating when viewed, except for their adverse effect on the receivers. Tommy's hooks always looked like they should knock your head off.

It is hard to say whose hook is harder. Punching a side of beef, probably Cooney.

Morrison was a "Steroid Freak" who only ever beat bums, journeymen and club fighters. With the exception of his victory over grandpa George Foreman.

Cooney fought and beat the better opposition, his left-hook was quite brutal when thrown correctly..

morrison was chinny and may have been a steroid freak but his hand speed and power was for real. the chin and stamina issues really held him back

Morrison himself, told of how he abused steroids

I dont doubt that but all im saying is he was a devastating puncher with quick hands. he had too many defensive flaws along with a weak chin and stamina which kept him from being elite but he was far from a bum

It matters at which part of their curves you fight the big names. Are you sure Gerry didn't beat a bunch of has beens?

Morrison had more power and speed with one punch.Cooney could deliver more faster ones in combos but if I could have one hook,i'll take morrisons .

Tablespoon Tommy had one of the best steroid hooks in the business. Cooney was natural. Perhaps we should always note this difference when comparing fighters.

Tommy Morrison's left hook was definitely prettier. Very good form on that punch, short and quick yet explosive.

as close of a description as I can give and I would not want to be on the receiving end of either gentleman's hook. Very hard punchers with the left.
