This thread is about whose was hardest, not whose was best, fastest or most consistent.
Great lefhookers like Dempsey and Frazier probably have to be left out. Maybe even Tyson. All three of these guys had potent lefhooks with all kinds of technique. Especially Tyson and Dempsey mixed it up with both hands adroitly. Frazier was a bit more of a one handed fighter. His right was not potent, his left was.
I am pretty sure that Tommy Morrison's lefthook was one of the most potent ever. I still can't figure how Ruddock got up.
Cooney's lefhook did not look devastating until you saw its effects. It was Holmes who barely crawled back to his corner along the ropes after a Cooney lefhook to the liver. I forget which round.
Foreman was more of a clubber, he did not have good lefhook technique. The lefhook was not a standout part of his repetoire.
Klinchko is big enough. Solid lefhooks are not a standout part of his arsenal, but he appears to have the technique to throw a good one, if set.
I think I have to say Tommy Morrison had the biggest, most explosive and potent lefhook that ever came along in the heavies. It was a real rounder, he had lots of curve on it, making it pretty indeed to see. What steroid Tommy lacked was a chin to go with his punch.
It is between Tyson, Morrison and Cooney for sheer power on the lefhook.
